View Full Version : Grumpy and Luvvinvinyl Huge Scandal
bigmacc 11-15-2006, 06:05 PM Fellow AK members the time has come to expose these moderators and the crime they committed against an innocent fellow AK member. "ME"
Now before we go any further l have to warn you the henious crime listed below is not for the faint of heart.
I need your advice and how to proceed.
First a description of the dastardly deed. I happen to mention last winter l had picked up a turntable but unfortunately had nothing to play on it. About a week and a half later a package arrives at my house. In it are about 40 lp's of which must have been 20 plus of my all-time vinyl favourites. There were sent no charge from Grumpy and Luvvinvinyl. How could they have been so selfish. I was hooked. :thmbsp:
I counted my lps tonight. In less than a year l have increased my selection up to approximately 600 lps. Just when l think it is safe to check out ebay along comes soundstage direct.
Could l sue my fellow memebers for contributing to my addiction. Possible settlement could be more records. :D :D
grumpy 11-15-2006, 06:22 PM Hehehe. I knew it would work.
One down and a couple of million to go :)
yamahammer 11-15-2006, 06:23 PM do you think you would get a fair trial here???????
CarlV 11-15-2006, 06:27 PM bigmacc, I see you need to start on my vinyl addiction recovery program. ;)
Carl
Dusty Chalk 11-15-2006, 06:30 PM Dastardly!
wajobu 11-15-2006, 06:31 PM Vinyl addiction...did someone say vinyl addiction?
Sandy G 11-15-2006, 06:33 PM Say it ain't so, Ethel !!
luvvinvinyl 11-15-2006, 06:57 PM For the record (ahem), I want it known that, though you COULD have returned said LPs, notwithstanding the fact that they were carefully selected by Grumpy and I, for your personal enjoyment, you did not.
When I realized the severity of your depravation, I selflessly purchased reyneman's Ariston table, to spare you further harm, by subjecting you to higher levels of analog playback fidelity. This would only exacerbate your distress, a situation which I would not permit. Instead, I removed said turntable to a safe storage location, keeping you, my friend, from harm's way. I maintain a daily vigil on this device, testing it, on old and new vinyl, hoping for the day when it will be rendered ineffective. I do all this, to keep you safe from harm.
How am I rewarded for this watchfulness? With thanks? No. Instead, I get blamed for your own lack of intestinal fortitude, which lack, when exhibited by a fellow Canadian, shames me to the core.
And now, in spite of your protests to the contrary, I understand that you are searching, of your own accord, for higher-fidelity playback devices, seeking the advice of none other than AK's own DOCTOR EVIL!!!
So, with no motive, other than enhancing your enjoyment of music, and the fostering of marital harmony between you and the lovely Linda, our selfless gesture is being blamed for your fall from grace, into the depths of analog depravity. Next thing you know, you'll be listening to tubes, and LOVING it!
And you'll probably blame US for that, TOO!
mhardy6647 11-15-2006, 07:01 PM Are you looking for any LP's in particular now, Bigmacc? I have a few; I'm sure I could spare some, gratis of course.
A turntable, maybe?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

dmax99 11-15-2006, 08:41 PM Buck up Man! You can beat this.Send all those filthy LPs to me.I can handle my vinyl. We gotta get you into a twelve step program.
cabinover 11-15-2006, 09:02 PM Just don't seem right....nope it doesn't
cabinover 11-15-2006, 09:10 PM Be careful with SoundStageDirect. I ordered a couple weeks ago, got one album that was less than stellar with a good warp and scratch at the lead in.
Asked Seth if there was anything we could do about it and all he wanted to know was which Johnny Cash album so he could get another on the way.
The man would not take back the other one to look at it which is what I wanted to make sure I wasn't just being a PITA. Insisted that this is the way he chooses to do business, keep the customer happy for return customers and word of mouth advertising like this.
It's not good for my wallet but I can make more money.
doucanoe 11-15-2006, 09:11 PM Those scoundrels!

Mark W. 11-15-2006, 09:12 PM Amatuer, Last October I owned one single 27 watt pre channel Pioneer Reciever and a crappy radio shack cassette deck. And No turntable/CD player
After finding this bunch of enablers I now have 5 SS systems I'm a power amp away from having my second tube system. I have four turntables 5 intergrated amps 2 Preamps 3 tuners 3 recievers 3 cassette decks 3 CD players/recorders a short stack of miss units like reverbs and expanders Hell I even have 2 timers!
OH and LP's LOL you make me laugh before January of this year between the wife and I I think we had 40 Lp's I currently have between 1800 and 2200 Lps in the house. almost 1000 of them in what I would call my collection about 400 yet to be sorted and cataloged and another 500+ of duplicates.
At this moment I have 4 Lps coming from ebay and 1 from Soundstage direct (which is only the first of MANY I will be buying from Seth)
SO stop your whining and put something on the TT then get your silly ass on to Ebay and the net to find your next TT upgrade (I have gone from a $100.00 table to just getting a $65.00 table that will have a $250.00+ carton it.
Sandy G 11-15-2006, 09:15 PM Mark, you REALLY need to take a look at the Wonderful World of Tooob TVs 'n' radios...MBWAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

Eunomians 11-16-2006, 01:17 AM The way I see it, Grumpy & Luvvinvinyl are spreading the disease!
tentoze 11-16-2006, 01:22 AM After reading the thread title, I was looking forward to some juicy dirt here- thread does not deliver.

After reading the thread title, I was looking forward to some tattling to Grumpy and luvvinvinyl about some juicy dirt about someone else. It never even occurred to me the dirt could be about them, and it STILL didn't deliver.
mhardy6647 11-16-2006, 09:15 AM FWIW: The most I've ever paid for a record was $50 for a MoFi half-speed mastered "Waiting for Columbus" in excellent condition from Record & Tape Traders. Allowing for inflation since that album was new, it was a good deal.
Nakdoc 11-16-2006, 10:16 AM My 14 year old son has been lately converted. This morning, day 5 after buying an LP of Beatles Revolver, he declared vinyl "cool". Unfortunately he also described it as "novel".
Ahhhh youth!
grumpy 11-16-2006, 10:31 AM Ive paid more for one piece of vinyl then some have for their entire stereo
thedelihaus 11-16-2006, 10:34 AM Cudos to Ernie and Grumpy. An extremely kind and open-hearted jesture.
My hats off to you two.
Best,
Paul
Sandy G 11-16-2006, 10:44 AM Amen, Paul, amen...
TWantiques 11-16-2006, 10:46 AM bigmacc:
Doesn't look like you are getting too much support here. Mainly a bunch of guys suffering the same affliction as you.
My suggestion is take a day and hit the record stores within 50 miles of you, come home open a bottle of wine and spend the evening listening to the LP's you found.
Repeat as often as necessary.:D
Terry
cableguy 11-16-2006, 03:37 PM Welcome the world of vinyl:yes: Now all you need is some great tube gear and REAL beer...:lmao: :beerchug:
whell 11-16-2006, 09:18 PM Only one solution: any vinyl coming from these two gentlemen should be covered in condoms. Its the only way to prevent the spread of the disease.
...I wonder if this is how the Trojan horse thing got started...

Is THAT what the plastic inner sleeves are on the really good records?
Damn, I think one of mine broke...they've multiplied everywhere.
