Does anyone use Kenwood turntables?. I recently picked up a KD5100, and I was wondering where it stood in the KW TT pecking order. It is a full auto w/ quartz lock speed maintanaince. It is quite heavy w/ heavy platter (keeps good speed) The tonearm has the counterweight antiskate mech. It seems like a good specimen. Sounds good. Any info. Thanks all. CC

I used to have a KD-2000. I sold it to a friend of mine recently. It had a counter wieght anti-skate, but it looks different than yours.

My buddy loves the 2000. Classy looking unit. Nice looking dark grey color.

I am a big fan of Kenwood gear, but around here, the Kenwood TT's that get people frothing @ the mouth are those with the concrete base.

What kind of cartridge does it have?

It has a Stanton D61 cartridge right now of uncertain age. I know about the concrete based units, and the ones with a seperate and remote power supply thats all a web search turns up. I know this isn't anything real special, I was just interested in some info. It keeps good speed, and don't sound or look to bad. It's twice the size and weight of my HK T-25. All features work as described. Only thing missing is hinges and a cracked dust cover. Thanks for any info. CC

I have that table and I like it okay. I am trying to locate a dust cover for mine. The major drawback to those tables is that there is the potential for alot of things to go out of whack. Lotsa bells and whistles, but when it is insync, they work pretty well. I am using a Shure V15 III and a VN35HE stylus. Been considering a Grado Gold or similar.

Looks decent. Interesting...I see a lot of direct drive Kenwoods, but their quartz models seem to be scarce.

Thanks guys. Jeff when I did a google search your querys on AK turned up, still havn't found that dust cover, huh. How does yours run?. Does it keep speed?. Mine all functions work. You are right about a lot of bells and whistles. There are no less than 5-6 PCB's under the hood. A lot of potential for problems. Hakaplan, I thought it may be rare, W/ the quartz lock speed maint feature. Any more info? anyone? Thanks CC
