Blaze Lantana:thmbsp: on KJZZ has been giving away pairs of Al DiMeola tix weeknights on her show. I think around 9pm. Picked up a pair last night. My daughter and I are going for my birthday. Anyone else local might want to listen in and grab a pair. I hear he puts on quite a show. :music: Be a cool place to meet up for an evening of music.:smoke:

Actually, I think he matured a bit. In his earliest days, he was all speed; then, starting right around Scenario, he eschewed 'speed' for 'beauty'; now, he just has the right blend of both. He, to me, is the example I set forth when contradicting the notion that technical virtuosity and the ability to evoke emotion are mutually exclusive.

I saw him recently where I was close enough that I could have reached out and strummed his guitar. Didn't.

He is a great guitar player. But I agree with you on the speed part. I had several albums by him. I'm glad he can play fast, but you don't have to prove it to me every song. I used to think if he tried to play one blues song, he would blow a couple fingers. He is better at doing other peoples stuff and improvising, than writing his own material. I hope he has slowed down, I could listen to him more. But speed or not I would love to see him live. He is a great talent
