This is an unnecessary post. Just wanted to share my current "overload" and express my tiredness of it.
son has 2 decent marantz speaker sale finds with bad woofers. last night I reclaim two speakers from a friend that MAY have suitable donor woofers. I get out 2 unused speakers to lend the friend so he isn't left speakerless. I start swapping woofers into the marantz pair and in between I'm packing a big 3in1 toshiba system i sold on ebay thats late being shipped. The donor woofers are crap quality and sound bad. then i find that dome tweeter of one of the sons speakers is dead anyway. Pizza burns while I start re-swapping woofers.
Another friend from work gave me an akai amp tuner and tape-deck a couple of days ago. The amp is always blowing fuses. I pull it down just for a 'quick look'. I get sucked into it for hours. The friend goes home leaving all speakers because his own are nearly fixed.
I now have a back table covered in amp bits. in the lounge room are my usual pair of speakers and also now my sons marantz pair, also the reclaimed pair, and also the pair i got to replace the reclaimed pair from my friend. The dog, while I'm not looking, pulls out and spreads through the room the fibreglass wool stuffing from the donor pair before the woofer has gone back in.
This afternoon I work again on the akai......... then in a sudden overload of audio shitfullness when i decide that the akai is a later model anyway, with barely identifiable parts and cheap plasticy manufacture, I pack all the screws, knobs and brackets into the case and throw it in the garbage. (I kept the VU meters for the fuse type globes.)
whew.......... sometimes the de-stress of chucking it out is worth the loss.
