Is the white LP version of this album very rare? Any idea of what the going price for one in average condition might fetch? I have the line on one along with a collection of others but I don't want the seller to pull a fast one on me and tell me it's worth a small fortune. And most importantly, is it a good pressing?

The White Vinyl version is a 1978 Parlophone pressing. According to the WIKI Entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_(album)), this is considered one of the best sounding pressings. There is a copy at MusicStack (http://www.musicstack.com/item.cgi?f=1&aid=z&item=119710916&band=Beatles) right now listing for $285, says it's sealed.
YMMV, Todd.
<EDIT>The album I linked above is a Capitol pressing, apparently both companies distributed a white version. I do not know if the pressings are the same.<END>
I have one on white vinyl, Apple label, French import, with all the goodies (posters, colour pix, etc.). Sounds damn great too!

Thanks for the quick responses. So the white vinyl is not the original pressing, interesting. I have no idea what condition this LP is in but it's with about 100 other LP's I'm considering buying.

I've seen the white vinyl version a couple times for around $35 in what I would call fair condition. Didn't buy either because of condition. First pressings were not white and came out in 1968. I think $285, even sealed, is nuts but maybe it's in line to Beatles collectors.
Good luck with the collection.

TerryTerry, I agree completely. And I'm a Beatles fan. You can pick up a lot of vinyl for $285...
