I have been looking for some time now for a Phase Linear tuner to round out my Phase rig but evertime I find one it sells for what I feel is just a ridiculous price. What is the deal? They certainly can't be that great of a tuner, can they? Any opinions out there?:scratch2:

I've never heard one but the fmtuner site gives the 5000 a bad review. It sounds like it's mainly a fairly large box with not much in it. I'm not sure if they are very moddable. As to the newer digital units, I've no idea. It's the collectablilty that keeps the price high, although I thought that the prices had come down so that you can spend $110 or less to get one. How long have you been watching? Keep watching through Christmas and New Years and I bet you'll score.

I've been looking for over a year now and they always seem to be around $200.00 which is way more than I will pay for what is considered a poorly rated tuner. I just want one cause I'm crazy!:D

You could wait around for a 5100, it built by Pioneer and is a copy of the TX-D1000. Its my main tuner, I like it. Here's an old one:
