I know, I know. Not a damn thing....yet. But I do have my recipient and I got busy doing my "homework" perusing past threads. I have a pretty good idea what direction to take and got it nailed down to a few choices. A lump of coal wasn't one of them. ;)
When they start rolling in fellas, post up. I doubt everyone waits until Christmas Day to open their gift.
Cheers

Its a great idea to dig in to your SS gift recipients posts. However it all comes down to what you think they would like.
For whoever has me I want Carmen Electra. If shes not available I'll settle for a Graham Phantom tonearm. :)

...and I got a package today. I thought it was my back-order from Acoustic Sounds. I had ordered the Yes - Fragile remastered (by Steve Hoffman) 180g LP and Zep I.
When I opened it it was the newly remastered heavy vinyl pressing of George Harrison's Living In The Material World. Hmm... not what I ordered.
So I call them to find out what went wrong with my order. They ask was there a card inside? No? It's your Secret Santa gift from Audiokarma. Oh...
It's a nice piece of vinyl. Faithfully reproduced and beautiful.
So thanks Secret Santa!!! It's a nice surprise and one I didn't have yet. I love everything Beatles and Beatles related.

I got a package today too:D and the card said I could open it now. Well, of course I did, and what a perfect gift. The 180gram Donald Fagen, Morph The Cat double LP. I have to be honest and say I didn't know who he was untill I read the jacket, and learned he was one of the Steely Dan founders. You guys know I don't get out much, so totally new and different music scares me a little. This is a GREAT album, and what a job someone did mixing it. I loved it from the first bass hit on the title track. I was a big Steely Dan fan back in the day :smoke: and this is like going back in time, but with new music. I've just recently been trying to broaden my musical taste, and this LP really hits the proverbial nail on the head. I had a feeling the coolest present I've gotten in years would come from an AKer. BTW, I did some research and found out who the gifter was (hope that doesn't make me an asshole) so Thanks, Drybasement and Merry Christmas to All, Jay

You're welcome Jay. Glad you enjoyed it. I tried my best to conceal my identity but the return address (minus the name of course) must have did me in.
Anyway, that record was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray at AcousTech. Steve Hoffman is well respected in the mastering world. Ever heard of DCC? Check out his website some day.

I never got the name and address for my recipient, but the gift is ready to go. I go into the hospital for a tumor removal and won't be back home for at least a week, but if Tim could PM me with the name and address, I can get the package out when I'm out of the hospital. I dunno if anyone else here uses Verizon, but lately, their e-mail filter has been working in reverse; letting in s**tloads of spam and not letting in much else!

Mine arrived a few days ago but I was out of town. As soon as I walked in the door, my daughter thrust it into my hands. Well, I couldn't disappoint her, had to open it.
2 albums which I have to say I have never heard of. Which is a wonderful thing, as I am into a new music phase these days.
The albums are Calexico-Feast of Wire and Marquee Moon-Television on 180 gram vinyl. Just looking at the covers I can't wait to give them a spin, the thorens is warming up as I type. I have a pretty good idea who you are S.Santa so here's a shout out and big thanks. :thmbsp: We'll be jammin' tonight.:guitar:

I gave them a spin last night Gary. Very good stuff. The Calexico was very unexpected from looking at the cover, and then a double album to boot. :thmbsp: . Great stuff, I'll be spinning it again this evening. The Marquee Moon album is awesome. Great sound quality and rocking tunes, and my kind of music, Sweet!!! I'll need to delve into it a bit more this evening as well.
So no worries here, great choices, they will be in my constant rotation stack for quite a while.

Cool, glad you like them. Television has only 3 albums, two from the day and one in the nineties. All worth checking out. I don't have the reissue vinyl, I'll have to check them out for myself.
Calexico is fun stuff. Great musicians and they can pull off just about any style of music at the drop of a hat.
Enjoy and have a happy holiday season.

Still no PM from Tim telling me who to ship my present to, now that I'm finally home from the hospital, but my secret Santa did his homework and came across with a copy of Mountain'a Avalanche on CD, not only that, he threw in a live album too. Come on Kamikiri, I need that name, the package is ready to go!

I am going to be outted!
Without thinking about it I shipped via UPS, that means my name and return address is on the shipping label. Oh well.
The normal time frame says it will be delivered Wednesday except UPS is not guaranteeing delivery dates cause of the holidays. It better be there before Christmas.
If you haven't received your gift, there is at least one more on the way.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Blues At Sunrise
Dave Koz - The Dance
With as many ceedees as I own the chances of buying something I already have are pretty good but you did alright SS. I didn't have either one.
I'm not familiar with Dave Koz's music. Pretty cool cast of characters involved with this album so it should be interesting. I'll be listening to these very soon as I have the week off. Thanks again Secret Santa.

Secret Santa finally came through, today. Air mail from Vinginia Beach, VA, to Windsor, only 14 days! (Faster than usual!)
I got a 6m pair of Monster XP-HP speaker cable, which will be perfect for the high-current system I am putting together. G-8000 into diy Eminence QWTL, about 95 db, so the Monster will handle the pressure. This setup will be LOUD, and the Monster cable will be just the ticket.

I did wait till Christmas day but I received my Secret Santa gift from San Antonio Texas over 10 days ago.
Big Thanks to Luther, aka Wardsweb for the Genuine JBL Blue Grille cloth. My big JBL's have needed a facelift for some time and this will go a long way to helping get this done. OOOHHH, the L300's and 4333B will like their new suits.
:thmbsp: :thmbsp: Thanks again Luther!!

Wow, what restraint you have. I'm glad you liked the gift. I read through your posts to find your love of JBLs. I bought a lot of the cloth from Steve Gonzales over on the Lansing Heritage forums. I knew you would put it to good use.

Hang in there MitsuMan, sometimes the best is saved for last. In some past years some stuff that I sent out just didn't make it on time due to the holiday rush. Although I don't know who your AK Secret Santa is, I'm confident your AK Karma will be rewarded. The day is still young and the post office is still trying to clear up their delivery backlog.
My boys are still waiting for a new game console they ordered which was supposed to be here yesterday so you have company in the waiting area.
Let us know when something transpires.

I have been looking for a CD for about 6 months (at least). Not a hard one to find new but I decided I was going to save a few $ by finding a used one and not pay shipping cost. Every time I went to the used CD stores, thrift stores and record shows I looked for it. All cause I can be cheap!
Well guess what my Secret Santa sent: Jennifer Warnes ~ Famous Blue Raincoat. The CD I have been looking for! :music:
I couldn't be more pleased. My one question is "how'd he know that?" I don't remember ever posting anything about it.
Mr. Secret Santa: I know your name but don't recall your handle, even though I know I should. Thanks John...perfect gift! :thmbsp:

You're quite welcome Terry. You should be getting another package that I sent but was delayed by the weather here. I think you will like this too.
The fun thing about AK Secret Santa is doing the homework to find out your recipients interests.

Wow, I received another package from my SS. John, you really did your homework and hit the nail right on the head. I don't even remember posting anything about Roy, Al, Mike and Jennifer. Guess I did.
In addition to the Jennifer Warnes CD I received, John sent me the Roy Buchanan ~ A Street Called Straight LP and a Mike Bloomfield & Al Kooper ~ The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper LP. :music: Neither one did I have.
But, that is not all! He gave me a framed ticket to a 1978 Roy Buchanan concert in Austin, Texas! What an awesome gift! I am completely blown away by this gift. Gonna be hanging it with my collection of audio memorabilia later today. I thought you guys would enjoy seeing some pictures.
John, what a great job you did. No way could I have been any more pleased. I'm enjoying Jennifer as I type, Roy, Al & Mike are next up. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

(note to self: how can I get John as my SS again next year?) Naw, better let someone else enjoy having him as their SS!

In today's mail, another box from my secret Santa, with a note saying he came across the disc he was originally looking for - so he sent it along, in addition to the great Fleetwood Mac set that arrived before Christmas. Metallica S & M - which I have been curious about but didn't have - playing right now.

If you e-mailed it, my verizon filter seems to be allowing everything BUT mail. Shoot me a quick PM with your address and I can get the package out in time for christmas. I have nothing but time on my hands while I recuperate!
So, I hope there is no problem with Seth's (Bogframe's) recovery.

Oh, and I posted about my gift, from Silverfan, and I sent mine to Bogframe. Actually, I only sent half, and am still waiting for the second half to arrive, so that I can forward it to him. Production delays in the plant that produces the gift I chose.
Come to think of it, I haven't heard back from him, either, and that is very uncharacteristic of him.

I did some internet searching, and came up with a phone number for Seth. I called and learned that his colitis flared up, again, with a vengeance, and he landed back in the hospital. He just got out, and hopes to be posting back with us, in the next couple of days. Once the introductions were done, and he finished with the tale of his medical woes, his next words were to ask me to let Tim know that his gift will be on the way, shortly, and to convey his apologies for the tardiness. I have done so, herein.
So, there's the rest of the story, gentlemen.

My thanks to Ernie for his call last night and the Mountain CD that I've been looking for for the last few years! It's heartening to know how many people have missed me and actually care! On a sadder note, he also told me that The Lovely Blanche's beloved China Lily Soya Sauce is, alas an extremely rare commodity, so she'll have to savour her last bottle.
Tim, I'm in the process of wrapping your (very late indeed) SS gift. All I'll say at this point is that I hope you like oddball stuff, because this is one of the odder things I own! If all goes well, it should be in tomorrow's UPS.

Hi Bogframe,
Good to have you back. Hope you are continuing to recover well. In regards to the China Lily Soya Sauce, there was a disruption in production that occurred last year but the company seems to be back in batch production now. Here's a link to a company which can ship to you, but the shipping costs can be formidable. However, if you order 12 bottles, the shipping is better amortized over the quantity.
http://www.canadaonly.ca/canadaonly.ca/market/namerica/sauces/index.html
You might consider putting out a request for Western Canada Ak'ers (Vancouver and BC especially as the company is located there) to maybe buy a few bottles for you and ship to you. Don't know if it would save you any money but would be fun to involve our Canadian brothers.
Good Luck in you soya search.
Regards,
Bart

Update to Bart's update. This info is from Joe Bolduc, of Canada Only. The company, on the passing of the family patriarch, had relocated production to Toronto. Current production is on "Quality Hold", whatever that means. Currently no stock available, even from Canada Only. That may change, hopefully for the better, within the next few weeks.
Stay tuned for further information, as it becomes available.
