View Full Version : Some great new music.
Drybasement 06-21-2002, 08:03 PM This will not appeal to everyone but I have to share this. I recently got the new Jerry Cantrell and Nickelback releases. I must say that these rock. Very impressed with the Nickelback CD. Jerry Cantrell's CD is very reminiscent of Alice In Chains and sounds great.
Hey, I'm 39 years old and love to head bang now and then. Music is an attitude. Enjoy!
Any other new music to share?

Im with you. I have been a huge fan of the Seattle scene for a long time. Lets just hope the ones that left can kick their habits before we lose anymore of em.

Matt Lafayette 07-04-2002, 11:22 PM Yep fine Canadian boys from BC!
If anyone out there cares, I'd highly recommend another CDN band in a slightly less heavy but lyrically brilliant vein:
The Lowest of the Low.
The only two studio albums are "Shakespeare My Butt!" and "Halucogenia". Don't be fooled by the goofy titles, TLOTL released some of the smartest and best rock music you've never heard!
Matt
Check out the new song "Deny" from the group Default it is a rocker.
Also try the song "Party Hard" by Andrew WK, play it right before your first beer on a friday night!
poorboy 07-06-2002, 10:55 AM Hey, just for the record,
Nickleback is from Hanna, Alberta. One of the members mother calls the rock station is Edmonton now and again.
I think that there lastest album musically is very good. Production wise it's just too bright. Can't engineers avoid cranking the high end on every CD. I want a cd to sound natural, not like it's been piped through a metal can.

I'm 54 and just picked up a Billy Idol vinyl , Wiplash Smile, near mint,Steve Stevens on Idols first few albums really could play. Robert Johnson, to MM, about as open to music as you get, love da blues though.
maxsmart 07-29-2008, 06:53 PM for one of the many great things about this site - okay, maybe the most important topic - music.
As always, thank you for pointing out great music. I'll be picking up both the new Jerry Cantrell and Nickelback album and check out The Lowest of the Low (plus any other recommendations this thread generates).
Simply a great place!

Yeh, I read DB's first post before I saw the thread, and was gonna call bullshit on that "I'm 39" statement.
NeedForSpeed 07-29-2008, 09:44 PM I've read there in the studio as we speak, I'm guessing you mean "All The Right Reason's(Released 05). If theres something out newer, Can I get a title. Loved AIC, And Jerry Cantrell is very good. Nickleback rocks big time, But they gotta cool it with those levels next time around. Other favorite band new stuff lately I've been cranking;
Dokken----Back For The Attack
Whitesnake---Good To Be Bad
Judas Priest---Nostradamus
3 Doors Down
Pearl Jam---Rearviewmirror(Remastered Hits)
Motley Crue---Saints Of Los Angeles
UFO---The Monkey Puzzle
All pretty good stuff, And of course, A ton of fun!
screenersam 08-01-2008, 03:13 PM fairly new group 'Fleet Foxes'. sounds a bit like Brian Wilson in his Pet Sounds / Smiley days; layered vocals/harmonies, instruments, non-formula songs. wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Drybasement 08-01-2008, 04:14 PM Geez, who dug up this old thread. ;)
The above post was my very first one on AK. If not it's damn close. I joined AK on 6/21/02. Man, have my musical interests changed since then.
Cheers
