View Full Version : Thank you, hakaplan!!
Yamaha B-2 12-18-2006, 05:43 PM Dropped by this a.m. and picked up the PS-X70 in the photo for my LR system. Excellent condition, just as promised. Had a very pleasant 45 minutes with Howard. Discovered that we are both not only audiophiles in that we appreciate excellent music and gear and great enjoyment from same, but also are train buffs. Think Howard is much more academic on this than I. And, we both like to ride bicycles. Obviously, great minds think alike...........well it sounds good. :D
But, back to the PS-X70. What a terrific turntable. Nice, smooth, solid, fully automatic action. Just the ticket for the LR system where my wife and daughter want to play their LPs. Now just have to get busy and wash their 50, or so, terrible LPs (Ben Crosby Xmas music and such :puke:). Ah, well. Just tested it out with Cat Steven's "Tea for the Tillerman" on MFSL. I could live happily-ever-after with this rig. No flash so the lights show up well, along with my ever-so-shaky hands. Using an M97xE.
Thanks, again, Howard. Good on ya mate.

junkaudio 12-18-2006, 06:32 PM the sony ps-x70 is a very nice tt. i also want to buy one on ebay but am afraid of shipping damage so i wait for a localpickup one
ZebraBlvd 12-18-2006, 07:11 PM Yamaha - Is that a new M97xE or one that has some time on it?
Just trying to get a feel for breakin time on this cart.
Thanks
Monty
Yamaha B-2 12-18-2006, 07:31 PM Am guessing I have about 10-12 hours on this one (need to start my play log on it). But, it sounds pretty good to me. Not requiring that much break-in time.
hakaplan 12-18-2006, 09:57 PM My pleasure, Glenn. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. Hmm...maybe I should have asked a higher price? :scratch2:
Yamaha B-2 12-18-2006, 10:04 PM And I was thinking rebate. :D
the-real-mandak 12-18-2006, 10:39 PM B-2 It seems Xmas came early to you this year and now with Ben Crosby all over it :)
Just remember that happy wife's gives a happy Xmas.
Nice TT by the way.
Yamaha B-2 12-18-2006, 10:56 PM Yes....without a doubt, the most important component in a stereo system is a happy wife.
hakaplan 12-18-2006, 11:54 PM Who on earth is Ben Crosby? You mean this guy:
http://www.bencrosby.com/Home.html
Or maybe do you mean BING? He's from your era, Glenn. Shouldn't you know who he is? :D
Yamaha B-2 12-19-2006, 05:54 AM Ben.....Bing.......whatever. Terrible stuff, either way. Not sure which is worse, his singing or his acting. He was only 44 when I was born. Dead for 30 years next year. Almost as bad as Sinatra.
bru87tr 12-19-2006, 09:49 AM hey guys, if anyone wants a X60, please bid on this so I dont. :)
seller says they have the original box and directions on how to pack.

bru87tr 12-19-2006, 07:00 PM wow, no one here bid on it. looks like its in nice shape. I won and suprised I did. $70 shipped is not too shabby. either way I can use parts from it for the 75 as its missing a cover, headshell and foot.
so now I own a 50, 60 and a 75. hope this one also arrives in nice shape.
I am done buying sony TT's. guess I am set TT wise. :)

I am done buying sony TT's. guess I am set TT wise. :)Congratulations! That was a great buy! :thmbsp: Keep it whole and use your PS-X50 for parts. I was going to bid, but the seller said I could not pick up (I'm fairly local). I was willing to bid a bit more than $37. :D
bru87tr 12-19-2006, 08:04 PM Thanks!!!! :)
well..... it depends the shape and working condition the X60 is. if it indeed is as in good shape as my X50 and works fine I will use the 50 as parts and store the unit away for spare parts if ever needed.
I just got my fedex tracking# for my X75. it is missing a foot, headshell and cover. so I have those parts now. hope thats packed well too.
I was suprised no one here bid. xmas time is a great time to shop on ebay. I have been making out ok, as long as stuff arrives working and in decent shape. suprised they wouldnt let you pick the unit up.
even if the X60 doesnt work, I hope the cover makes it cause the $70 is worth the parts I did need for the X75. $70 isnt bad for a decent cover, headshell and foot. I also need a foot for my X50 as the thread is stripped but still stays on and works well enough.

Appreciate and Merry Xmas to you. :)
