Sposed to be 60 here. We MAY get some rain this evening. I'd give my eyeteeth for a little snow at Christmas...There are some kids here who have NEVER seen a REAL snowfall-the last one we had of an consequence was in '98, IIRC.

Actually Denver gets very little snow. Winters are typically mild with lots of sunshine. But once every couple of years when conditions are right we get hammered. Apparently conditions are right today.

Cubby, it is dry and 40 degrees in your old home town. They say we may get some rain but no snow. I am actially jealous. I would like to see a little for the holidays.

Yeah, we were in Denver last Christmas and it was nearly 70 degrees in Cherry Creek and environs...we went for a walk in our shirtsleeves on Christmas Day!

It's hard for a system to bring us a lot of snow in Denver because the usual west to east progression is hampered by the mountains. This one came up from the south. That's pretty unusual, but also the patern that brings us the most snow.

I'm in the office this morning but will get out while I still think the '72 Capri with snow tires will make it. I actually get around just fine in this stuff until it gets so deep it hits the bottom of the car. We're going to get that with this one so I'll have to get out when I can.

Probably connected with the cold cell thats passing through here. It's been down in the 20's at night. The last two days are the first time I have had to scrape my windshield in the morning since I left Colorado.

Well I left work today at 1:40. I have a 7 mile drive home, 6 miles of which are on the interstate. It took me 2 hours and 50 minutes. Needless to say I'm now having a glass of wine.

Glad you made it home Ross. I left before you. The old Capri wasn't up for any more. I did make it home, but it was a struggle. I'm looking out the window- there has to be more than a foot of snow in Denver right now and it's still coming. On top of that, I'm sick. I just woke up from a nap and my throat is so sore I can hardly talk.

like i said before...Holy Chit!!

My youngest daughter goes to school at Adams St. in Alamosa, and had their coach not cancelled practice scheduled for yesterday, she might not have made it here for Christmas. They drove to Albuquerque in heavy snow Monday night. (2 teenage girls following two more teenage girls) All they could see was the tire tracks of the cars in front. She caught a flight out on Tuesday at 1PM after a one hour delay (de-iciing the plane). Finally picked her up at a Houston airport at 4PM. Looks like she got out just in time. Glad she made it! Due to basketball, hasn't been home in 4 months. Definitely makes the holiday special.

Seems like we can't buy a decent snowstorm around here anymore. I'm Jealous.

Man, I really am not feeling well. That was about all I could do. I'll have at it again in a little bit. I'd love to get this couple of feet gone so when I get up tomorrow it's a reasonable amount.

We have around 18 to 20 inches at our house. The problem is that the wind caused major drifts everywhere. Plus it is still snowing. The airport is shutdown with thousands stranded. There is a very slight possiblity that some flights may get out tonight but I doubt it. I'm going to head out later this morning to start digging out. It will take all day I'm sure.

My cul-de-sac is drifted in so no work today. Wife and I went for a walk yesterday out through the wild area behind our house. It was great! Had to use ski poles and gators. Lots of drifting and boy was the wind ferocious. HeHeHeee! Snow sure makes the xmas lights pretty. Merry Christmas everyone!! Brien

Just finished round 1 of digging out. My earlier estimate of 18 to 20 inches may have been wishful thinking. I know it was knee deep in my driveway.

It's really hard to say how much it is. It was so windy it's drifted a lot. The snow is very light and powdery- at least not too hard to shovel. Still, I'm taking it in three lifts for each chunk. It seems like not as much as we had in the last blizzard- was that 2003? But it's still snowing. I can't believe that! It has to stop soon. They say it could go 'till noon which is still two and a half hours.

Isn't going to be a lot of "out there" around my house. We're snowed in but good. My wife's 4Runner is in the body shop and I can't even imagine when we'll be able to get the Capri out again. We're flying to Cincinnati on Monday, or at least we're supposed to. I hope by then I'm mobile again.

Just as a point of reference we got 38 inches at our house in 2003. We have a tile roof on our house and the snow was sliding off in huge chunks. It ripped my sattelite dish right off the side of the house. At work where we have a flat roof it commpressed the ceiling by 3 inches! we could tell by the sprinkler heads that were no longer flush with the ceiling. So at least this one is not that bad.

Just went out in my jeep and wandered around within 1 mile of my house. Saw 14 cars abandoned and 1 jeep stuck. Headed back home and put the jeep in the garage. Only about a foot here in Colorado Springs but the wind built some amazing drifts. Not one business was open. No need to go out this am. The wife and I will go out on another walk early this pm. YeHaaa!

I just finished blowing my driveway, neighbor lady's driveway our 2 walks. That 8HP blower sits idle most of the time but it sure comes in handy at times like this. We didn't quite get the accumulation you guys got in Denver but you know how it drifts here in the windy mecca.:thumbsdn: Ross I been trying to call you this AM and your home phone goes right to voice.

We're on the right side of the cyclone here, so getting warmer than usual and rain. They're predicting when it does move it will go northeast, so we will miss the bad stuff - but you never know for sure with these slow-moving lows.

I think some of us are going to significantly add to our post whore counts today. What else is there to do?!

We're gong to let the kids open a Christmas present early. We got them Dance Dance Revolution for the Gameqube. Of course, my wife and I already tried it out! lol. That thing is more fun that you can imagine!!

I'm in Canon City, and we got a couple dozen flakes. Ten miles east of here they got 8 inches. There was a bubble over Canon City, which broke up, then another one formed right over us. It's really bizarre, but I get to drive into it to see my family. Hopefully by about tomro night at this time, the roads will be as dry as the ground is here. DIA won't be open until about noon Friday.

My sister lives in Longmont north of Denver on 40 acres. Her husband was trapped in the hospital safely. I asked what she does being that she couldn't go anywhere (snowed in...)? Watch TV and rest. She is a midwife who works at Denver General in OB running the show.....I told her you can have that snow!

Nice day today. Warm enough for a huge melt off to start. I'm getting around again in the '72 Capri and the main roads are somehting similar to passable. The residential streets are nasty, but the snow tires on the old '72 Capri are holding their own. One bad move would ruin my day, but so far so good. I'm only a block off a main street so I should get out and about ok. I did have to take a detour to get around a stuck SUV on my street up a couple of blocks, so deeper into the neighborhood than I wanted to go. Still, I made it back just fine and think I'll stay here for a few hours.

That was just a nice Christmas dusting. As our Priest at Church said, it would be perfect Christmas snow, if it wasn't on top of three feet!

It has been warmish the last couple of days. Had to be 40 yesterday. There's a LOT of snow to melt, but that got us started anyway.
