Many of you may already know about the design flaw in the amps that cause them to fry. In case any of you come across one or need help. I have the tech bulletins and schematics for the amp.

Also, if you come across one with a bad amp that someones unloading, please let me know. I already have one and am looking for a second. I have two sub amps out of a pair of Infinity Compositions Overture 3 that I want to use to drive two subs with. So, if the amps bad, ok, I'm going to throw it away anyway. I just want the cabinet with the 10" driver.

I've been looking all weekend for some info about these speakers(Carver 5.1 powered 10" subwoofer). I just aquired one that doesn't work and would be very greatful if you could pass along any info. So far this is the most info I've found regarding this specific model.
Thanks for your time,
Joe

There was a design flaw in the amps that allowed them to self destruct. There was a service bulletin on it back in 1998 to add a heat sinks to Q1 and Q10. A year later the second bulletin went to larger heat sinks and added current shunting resister to the same transistors. It was really more trouble than it was worth if the amps were already fried, as you had to rebuild the amp first. So I just used them as passive subs for years. A few weeks ago, I installed 250 watt plate amps from Parts Express and they really rock now.
