How many of you Karmaites have experimented with passive vs active amplification of your source signal? I've been passive since '97 and every active system I've heard (SS or tube) has left me cold. Like there was something between me and my music. Recently my buddie dropped off his Melos Maestro tube preamp for me to play with and 2 weeks later I'm still unimpressed (regardless of tubes used). I'm sure there is a preamp out there that would change my mind but for now I'm happy with the 10k Borne pot in my Moth amp. My credo is the less "stuff" between me and the signal the better.
