I have an Insignia 5 disc CD player with remote that I got off that auction place. It was an open box item with brand new warranty. Works great and sounds pretty good! I have no complaints with it.

I'm using their small 3 way indoor/outdoor speakers in my "sun room" powered by a Marantz 2010. Not bad, but sometimes I need a little more.....

From what I've read, Insignia is a brand-name only that BB puts onto products manufactured for them by any number of manufacturers. There's no chance that all those products come from the same factory as the conincident driver speakers that everyone loves. Some of the Insignia branded products look decent and some look like utter crap.
Bottom line, I'd buy those speakers if I needed another pair (yeah, like a hole in the head!), but I'd hesitate quite a bit on paying anywhere near retail for anything else with the Insignia name.

Their mp3 players are very nice. I recommended one of them to my neighbor whose son wanted an iPod.... sigh. He is very happy with the Insignia; I looked at it, and it is very nice; a great buy too!

I have the 6.1 surround sound receiver by Insigia. It supports dolby prologic 5.1, dts 6.1, stereo and has a few other sound shapers like jazz, hall ect. It is rated at 100 watts/channel (at 1% THD!!!) and for the money (local CL $25) it works as well as anything else I could own. It is driving a Klipsch center channel and 5 minimus 7 (or later version) speakers and sounds good for movies. Plus it is easy to set up and keep sounding good.

I used to use a Carver stand alone processor and a bunch of amps, well 2 amps a integrated and a receiver (this setup was much nicer but had a lot of problems with integrating the different components), but having an all in one unit is much nicer. I like simplicity. Having a bunch of mismatched items stacked behind a TV did not make the misses very happy.

I use it for movies and television only. My daughter likes to listen to the radio with it and it sounds like crap. I have set her up with an excellent sounding system i(yamaha CR-620, Paradigm Titan, Sony 5 disk changer, ipod) her room so this is not happening as much. In fact last night while fixing dinner I went in to her room (located next to the kitchen) and was surprised at how good it was sounding.

Back on topic, I like the receiver. do not think I would pay retail, but I rarely do anymore for anything. I saw their MP3 player and thought it looked nice, I have ipods for everyone in the house (the gift of music rules!) so no real need.

edit - just saw this is the evil post (666) :D

I've heard the BB insignias and they are quite nice. HOWEVER, I've also seen their TV's and they are PATHETIC. It's strange how a vendor can have a nice product on one end of the spectrum but have a horrible product on the other.

Thinking about picking up the DVD recorder...

A friend just picked up one of their 27" CRT HD sets. It was a "black friday" deal for only $280 or so. It is not the best set in the world, but looks very acceptable for the price. The build it tuner grabs most local HD channels, the OSD is decent, and the picture through a 480p DVD player is good enough for him. Overall I think a good buy as long as it lasts a while.

That's the problem with the Insignia label. It isn't from one vendor Best Buy gets from different vendors and just has them put the Insignia label on the equipment. The guy in charge of purchasing for best Buy is the one responsible for the quality of who they have supply them. I guess sometimes the manufacturer is great and sometimes poor. The Insignia 6.5" speakers are a real winner. I'm running them in my living room now with a Kenwood KR-6600 receiver (60 watts/channel) and they sound absolutely great!:music:
