I have a Marantz 2226B that I use as a phono stage and tuner. I connected it through the tape output to my tube amplifier. My CD player is connected directly to the tube amp.
I want to send the CD signal to the Marantz so I can listen through its headphone jack. How would I best do this?

Just connect the CD player to the AUX input on the Marantz.
And welcome to AK! :)

I want to leave the CD player connected to the tube amp for when I want to run the speakers.

If there is a tape out jack on your amp, you can patch to the Aux. or Tape In on the Marantz.

What about from the tube amp output to the Marantz's Main In?

Nope. If you use the CDP into the AUX on the Marantz, you can use the headphone jack when you wish. Then, when you want to use the speakers, the signal will pass through the Tape Out, to the tube amp, and then to your speakers.

Get a pair of splitter adaptors and hook them into the patchcord that connects the CD player to the tube amp. Then one output line of the splitter will go directly into the tube amp and the other output line will go over to the Marantz's AUX input. Since the splitter looks like two RCA jacks that go to four RCA plugs, this will also require one additional patchcord and four RCA-female-to-RCA-female "barrel" connectors.

I just did exactly that. I found some gold plated 1 male RCA with 2 female connections, times 2, and hooked them up the the CD player, ran 2 set of interconnects, one to the tube amp above and one to the recevier below. Now using Sennheiser HD-580's to listen. All is well.
