Title: An Other Cup
Year of Release: 2007
Record Label: Ya Records/AtlanticRecords/Polydor Records
Genre: Pop

Well all you Cat fans here's my take on his latest release. Please remember that opinions are like a**holes.....everyone has one, and this is just mine.

After listening to his new release for a few times, I must say while not up there with his best stuff, it's a pleasure to hear his voice again after all these years. Some of the material gets a little preachy, but all in all I give it a solid B+.

"Maybe There's a World", is as good as his older stuff and the remake of "I Think I see the Light" is great.

Cat/Yusaf...if your listening, can't wait for your next release. Hopefully it will be soon. You still have a bunch of fans out here.

I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head with your brief review. :thmbsp:

I've both read and heard a few recent interviews with him, and heard ONE cut from the new album (so far... haven't bought it yet). Agreed that he can sound a wee bit preachy, but it seems that the opportunity to "preach" a little was the only thing that got him back into the studio. I think the negative press that the Islamic faith has recieved since 9/11 was a factor in his decision; he's hoping to show another side of the faith and attract converts. Small price to pay to hear some more of his output, and everyone should have the right to speak --or sing-- their mind. Others can choose whether or not to agree. Yep, there are still fans out here who welcome him back, and I hope there are more albums to follow!

I'm a big Cat Fan -- Favorite Cat album -- "Footsteps In The Dark"

I really like this new Album -- throw out track 5 --all others are good

favorite track -- "Heaven/Where True Love Goes"

I don't feel the album is to preachy,
His earlier work many tunes were about his search in life
about the meaning of life, search for his spiriual life and his place here on earth.
I feel this latest album we here a man who knows his place and is comfortable
in his beliefs.

Just my .02
