and if they did does it make the turntable useless or do you just have to cue by hand at the end of the record?
I know it's an expensive fix but those tables look so well made I really like the 1400MKII
Thanks.

I have a 1200Mk-II heavily used and still no cueing problems.

If it is anything like my SL1600 Mk2 it is a simple $10 belt still available from the manufacturer, probably cheaper if you happen to have some small belts on hand. There is a small motor that drives the arm and the original belts turn to goo with time. Lift the platter, take out the screw that hold the black cover plate and you should be able to see the motor near the base of the arm.

Some had a problem with the damped cueing going out. Had that problem with my 1300 mkII. So did a buddy of mine.

AFAIK the Mk2 models shared that common defect. Joel at the Turntable Factory discusses the problem and offers a "permanent cure" at about $175 (very labor intensive).
This cueing defect is strange for an otherwise excellent performing series. The pro-oriented SL-1200 models did not share this defect.
I would still have and use my old SL-1400Mk2 if the cueing and auto-return had worked. Or even if just the cueing had worked.

I've taken my SL-1300 out of service because the cueing won't "hold".
It slowly starts to drop after a second or two.
I don't see a cover under the plater near the tonarm on this model.
Does anyone know how I repair/replace what needs to be done....?
Hope everyone's having a great weekend :thmbsp:
