Happy Birthday! kcollins4 01-28-2007, 02:49 AM You musta been a "fool for the city" :D Tubejunke 01-28-2007, 02:51 AM Glad to hear the band plays on. I was a bit worried after the loss of a second original member. I have seen them luckily as an all original reformed band after I had previously seen the late 80's version in a bar. Both versions were good but nothing compares to the original vibe created by if I am not mistaken 2 members of Savoy Brown. Savoy Brown is/was a great English Blues/Boogie band from the late 60's. I have seen them as well. You may want to check them out and Ten Years After as well if you care for barnstorming guitar rock/blues. Estring 01-28-2007, 03:52 AM Actually there were three members of Savoy Brown who went on to become Foghat. "Lonesome" Dave Peverett sang and played guitar, Roger Earl played drums, and Tone Stevens played bass. Rod Price was the new member playing lead guitar. I know Dave Peverett died a few years ago, and Tone left the band ages ago, so I don't know if there are any original members of Foghat left. Andyman 01-28-2007, 07:50 AM Kegger and I saw them 2 summers ago in a beer tent at a local church festival. Really! We were like 15 feet from the band and had to dodge the sweat from the lead singer! Afterwards we hung around and I bought their CD and they all signed it. Who's in the band these days? The one we saw had Roger Earl, the only remaining original and the drummer, and Craig MacGregor, who is an on/off bass player when Tone Stevens wasn't. The lead player was the guy from Wild Cherry, and the other guitaist and singer I think toured with Nugent or somebody. At any rate, they did respectable covers of lots of the old Foghat classics and did a real nice version of Chateaux Lafitte '58 Boogie with a Savoy Brown boogie insert. They may not be the most sophisticated or original band in the world, but I sure enjoyed the hell out of that show  JDaniel 01-28-2007, 08:03 AM Same here. They played at our Cityfest last June. I posted about it then. For a bunch of old guys, they could still rock the house. It was an enjoyable show. JD Rat44 01-28-2007, 09:58 AM The lead singer (Charlie Huhn) also sang for Humble Pie.Another good boogie band. Sandy G 01-28-2007, 10:02 AM How was "Slow Ride" ? Rat44 01-28-2007, 10:03 AM Long and loud. Andyman 01-28-2007, 10:24 AM I just checked out their site and it looks like they've been working the same show for a while; the setlist looked to be the same as the one we heard. In fact, they've got a "Foghat Live II" CD there which seems to be the same thing. There's also a tour list and they'll be here this summer. Looks like I'll have to hit that and see if I can get the live CD with some autographs  Tubejunke 01-28-2007, 09:42 PM a beer tent at a local church festival. Am I reading this right?:scratch2: Probably so....:nono: If they were at a church event in my town I would go in a heartbeat so I'm not bashing anyone here. Roger Earl is the second Savoy Brown member to die just a year or two ago. Foghat is one of those great road bands which I think sound better in their natural form, LIVE. I really don't like much of Foghat's studio work, but I know I will have a great time if I go see them play...:music: Andyman 01-29-2007, 04:36 AM Roger Earl is the second Savoy Brown member to die just a year or two ago. Roger should be alive and well; it was Rod Price who died from injuries sustained in a fall. Sandy G 01-29-2007, 07:23 AM What was that song Foghat had in '79 ? Oh, yeah.."3rd Time Lucky"...Good song, kind of a different sound for them...."The 1st time I was a fool, Never knew that love could be so cruel...It happened to me again, 3rd time lucky...." |
