The Forum is full of raves for the Dalquist but just at first blush what to you AKers think of his price point...it is in Canadian dollars...
I am planning (well, still thinking) of using them with a Sansui 9090Db, altho I am open to other recommends for a match with that receiver.
Thanks
John

Just my opinion, but they look pretty tired for that kind of coin. And they need more power to bring them alive than the Sansui is going to be able to give them.

Yes, I am concerned about the appearance as that can indicate their overall condition, for sure.
But of more concern is your comment that 110 watts from the 9090Db would not drive the amyways...what are your thoughts on a good match for the 9090...I have Genesis II and Genesis 2+ at the moment...

Buy a bigger receiver--maybe a Kenwood KR-9600 or a Pioneer SX-1250. Those are some of the last receveirs that can be had for fair prices on ePay. Many others sell for way more than they're worth--e.g. the Sui G9000.

Tucker, I can't offer much help on good matches for the Sansui- although I've heard 9090's over the years, I never owned one and lived with one. And speakers are very subjective. The things I find appealing in speakers may be just the opposite of what you find desirable.
It might help if you give folks here an idea of the type of music you listen to, and what speaker qualities you find most appealing. THat way, long-term owners of the big Sansui's will probably be able to offer opinions.

Well, I don't think they look that bad but for $650 they should be near pristeen. At least refoamed with stands. I paid $300 for mine with new foam and a partial cap upgrade, no stands. They are always available on ebay but shipping is a problem. It all boils down to how bad you want them. I will overpay for something I really want if I can avoid the shipping concerns.

It's actually about $550 USD, but that's still more than the condition shows me they're worth, at least if it was my $$$.
