I bought Horses in 1976, when I went off to college. To me Patti defined "different". I also have Easter and Radio Ethiopia on vinyl. Then I lost touch with music until the late 90's. Recently I picked up Dreams of Life and Gone Again. Not nearly as raw but still love her voice. Recently shes been getting press but I've always been a fan. Anyone else?

I only have Horses but its a great album. Lots of really personal moments in it where you'd swear she's whispering in your ear only.

Love her stuff! Any else here remember the SNL skits when Gilda Radner was doing her punk princess skit, an obvious take on Patti? Frickin' hi-larious!

I was fortunate enough to see Patti Smith and her Group at the Odeon in Cleveland a few years ago. This was a small club-type place where you could get "up close and personal." The concert was one of the best I've ever seen anywhere! I especially remember "Because the Night" for some reason. It gave me a real high goosebump factor!

Patti Smith rules... I think Gung Ho is one of her best albums (although I love Horses and Radio Ethiopia) :music:  :music:

Hi
saw her once live in Berlin in the "Neue Welt" (Patti Smith Group with guest stars: Matthew Reich and Allen Lanier - 21-Sep-78, Neue Welt, Hasenheide Berlin) smashing her guitar - was a fun concert, have a few vinyls, but NEVER got a fan...

Never much cared for 10,000 Maniacs version of "Because The Night"...Kind of like a politically-correct version of the Bible...Natalie Merchant is WAY too whitebread for that song...

Horses and Easter are both fine albums. I loved her intensity. I can't say that I've heard anything that she has done recently.

I bought Horses when it came out.I was only 13,and I was floored.I love Easter, also. You know, for all the talk of Marilyn Manson, her original "Rock and Roll N----r" is much more shocking and powerful than his cover.
