First off, I know little to nothing about Phase Linear. But, I have seen a number of Phase Linear components listed from time to time. And, I was interested because Pioneer owned Phase Linear from 1979 to 1982.

So, I did a little checking and was able to develop the table below. Not much, only 47 components, but it is a start. I am hoping that those of you who are into Phase Linear will add to this thread and develop it to be more complete.

One thing I did find interesting is that there were four Pioneer components that are also Phase Linear components. Perhaps there are more.

Here is the table thus far. The column headers are:

As you can see in the table, the following had Pioneer equivalents:
7000 Series II => Pioneer CT-A1
5100 Series II => Pioneer TX-D1000 and F-D7
T-5200 => Pioneer F-9
8000 Series II => Pioneer PL-L1000

Plus, the P-530, P-560, and P-580 seem to be related to something in the Pioneer eXclusive line.

I have a 400 Series II. IIRC, I read somewhere that Bob Carver worked for Pioneer after he sold Phase Linear. That would explain the similarities in some of the components

Hey Doc! Are you going to be collecting serial numbers, like in your other excellent database? I have two PL units on ebay right now, and I'll grab the serials for you if you want them...

Doc,
Here is another link that has a ton of pictures as well as a little history; http://www.kleines-kalb.com/html/english.html.

As you probably saw on Ed and Dean's site, there were some variants of the 700 power amplifiers. Phase Linear made 7 special 700 series 1's ( I have two of them) for Bell Labs and also were commissioned by Clair Brothers to produce a special line of 700 Series Two for the rock concerts that they supported(I have one of those). Also, a 700 Series 2 Professional version was produced in limited quantities towards the end of the line(I have one of those).

Bob never worked for Pioneer. He left Phase Linear to start up Carver Corporation before the Series Two 700 hit production. They finished production based upon the design that he developed.

Real glad that you are capturing this information.

Vito
