I have a 6 year old son who since 2 months ago plays a game with me. He gets to choose an LP record from a pile of around 200 lying around and we listen to it together. He even memorizes the artists name and album title!!
He says he likes records over my cd collection! His favorite record is Lalo Schifrin "Mission Impossible" because he says "it sounds like James Bond"
Anyone care to share similar stories?

Great story. I make CD's for my five year old twins that we listen to in the car. It's got a little bit of rock, punk, and pop on it and the kids always want to hear their CD. I need to make a new one every couple of months because I get burned out on hearing the same songs all the time. They like my TT as well but more because they like to watch the LP spin around.

Yeah, my 11 year old really enjoys records, and even goes to record shows with me. And now, my 2.5 year old asks every night if "we can play a record". Of course I oblige.
The real reason I got into vintage audio a few years ago was to over time acquire a vintage system, including TT, for each of my kids. I've got them, and will give them to them someday.

My 4-year-old loves the vinyl! I've picked up an old album from the thrift that's just beat, and let her feel the grooves, and see how the stylus "rides" the groove on the TT to make the sound.
She particularly likes John, Paul, George, and Ringo, and recognizes them easily in print. Very helpful at the thrift... :D

My 8 year old son loves vinyl- I just gave him a bunch of duplicates that I had- Hendrix, Moody Blues, Beach Boys... he listens to all of it on his TT. I don't mind if it doesn't become his favourite music and that he prefers new music, but I like for him to at least know and appreciate it. Of course the same holds true for jazz and classical as well..
He's actually been bugging me to give him a new TT as the auto return isn't working correctly..

My 11 year old got me back into vinyl after discovering my Bill Cosby albums, so I picked her up a crappy all-in-one TT/tape/radio at a thrift. That whetted her appetite, and led to a nice Pioneer system her grandma and I put together for her. I got tired of listening to my old stuff in her room (pink canopy bed!) so I built myself a system. I put her to bed with an album every night now, usually either Cos or Beethoven. She also digs "A Day In The Life" and starts giggling nervously during the orchestral crescendo, then busts out laughing at the final chord. She also started collecting colored vinyl and old Disney albums, which are hard to find in good shape.

My youngest daughter is 20. She's been listening to vinyl all her life. She likes my country collection the best. Old 60's Tammy and George stuff.
