I picked up a copy of:

Styx - Equinox (Gold vinyl)
Styx - Pieces Of Eight (Gold vinyl)and
Bob Marley - Survival (Red Vinyl)

Are they worth anything special? They're VG condition...

I have a Styx yellow vinyl album, and I asked my local guy, He says " album rarity and demand are the only driving force. Then he showed me 2 gold and one blue styx album he was selling at 8 dollars each. He said the big money is in out of production blues, and first copies of famous rock'n'roll albums.
cheers Wolfgang.

I thought I had something scarce as hen's teeth when I found an Elvis Moody Blue album here at home, on blue vinyl.
I looked on eBay, and there must've been 50 on there.
Guess I won't be able to retire as early as I thought!

"Moody Blue" was pressed exclusively on blue vinyl. Colored vinyl of reissued albums was quite common in the late 70's thru early 80's.

I saw a promo copy of the Moody Blue album in red Vinyl go for $2,500 on Ebay about two years ago. It was released before Elvis died.

Here's an interesting thread from awhile back on something similar.

You are right, the blue vinyl copy is the most commonly found color. There were, however, a few black US versions pressed, find one of those and you could have one heck of a Saturday night date. They will bring $150 to $200 in great shape.

Last summer I was buying LP's from a retired guy who had been collecting since the early 70's. Found a copy in his Elvis stack and he didn't realize it was black vinyl and charged me $5 for it.

But just try to find a copy of "Moody Plaid (Elvis sings songs of Scotland)" on black vinyl!
