I picked up this cd last week at the Mirage in Vegas where the stage show is. It was produced by George Martin and his son Giles. Once you get pass the mix of some of the songs, like using the intro to Blackbird that leads right into Yesterday, it is really quite remarkable. There is more detail and imaging than any previous recordings I've heard of the Beatles. This is what they sounded like 40 years ago, you just couldn't tell from the technology of the time. I think Geroge Martin knowing their catalog forwards and backwards is what helped pull this one off. :thmbsp:

Thanks for passing this along. I must be living under a rock because I had not heard of this and I'm looking forward to hearing what George Martin has come up with.
I still get totally blown away by the original Beatles recordings such as anything on Revolver and the Strawberry Fields Forever single, and I have a few original EMI and German vinyl copies. This project definitely sounds like a keeper. :music:

Yes the hi-res DVD-A is an awesome disc. I'm not really into the whole "mix" aspect of the disc, but the clarity of the original recordings is astounding. To hear what they sounded like fresh off the reel is definitely something to hear.

When this CD first came out, there seemed to be as many reviews that hated it as there were reviews that praised it. So I didn't pick it up at first but eventually my curiosity got the better of me and I purchased a copy. I have to say two things:
1. I like it!
2. It makes one wonder why the original British albums have not been given a complete remastering by George Martin. This is really a sad state of affairs. Probably the best catalog of pop/rock music of all time deserves more respect than this!

And another thing I forgot to mention: I believe the vinyl version of LOVE is due to be released next week sometime.
