I was lucky enough to stumble onto the Sansui 5050 to 9090db series when I was looking for a mid-1970s receiver with better reception than you find new nowadays.
Most user reviews said their Sansui had better reception than comparable Marantzes. I'll take their word for it. I'm satisfied. Especially considering the sound my 8080db puts out.
But I'm curious about how reception compares over the whole series, from 5050 to 9090. Do they have the same tuner specs? I would expect reception to improve with the bigger units. But I only have print specs for the 8080db.
We're out in the boonies where it's good reception or none.

I'm in the boonies also. I have 3 Sansui's. A 771 an 881 and a 7070.
The 771 & 881 pick up NOTHING without a outside antennae.

The 7070 picks up close channels with not even an inside wire attached! And with an inside wire it picks up about anything you COULD GET in my area.

It also pulls in loud and clear with even the faintest signal showing on the meter.

I'm sold on the FM reception of this 7070 receiver.:thmbsp:
