The $120 per speaker price sounds like the "we don't really want to do this so price it high enough to dissuade most people" price.
Yeah I get crazy about getting that surface absolutely clean. I don't know which is the nasty chemical one and which is the orange based one... I think Goo Gone is the orange and Goof Off is the nasty chemically one. I think Goof Off will help get the remaining crud off, but be sure to give it a good cleaning with alcohol afterwards.
Once tip when you are gluing on the foam. If you're using the clear glue, you will think everything is going to shit because the edges start curling and looking like the glue is going to dissolve them. Don't panic, just keep tapping it down lightly and you will see that eventually the "curls" stay down on the mating surface and it will stop looking like you melted it.
Man, who the fcuk throws out Thiels??
Great save!! And @MannyE bro, I sure hope you're somewhere safe from that evil hurricane bearing down on you.
EDIT - That is a FANTASTIC refoam if it is your first one. Welcome to AK, Gunksny!
Good to hear MannyE!!!! Hang in there. And what a nice thing you did with the thrift!
Yeah, I ran out of room and it was the Yahama 690ii or the 04a and the Yamaha don't need as much "placement" as the 04 do. I will say that if I could have kept them, the properly placed 04a speakers are nicer to my ears. But they HAD to be in a certain location and they were strangled there.
The surge has SO FAR spared my house, and I think most of the east coast homes. Let's hope that trend continues.
