That's what I saw when I opened AK. I could understand if I had done something that warranted that, so WTF is up? I restarted my phone and AK opened up.

Used to get that with Virgin. Come to find out they rotate IP addresses when you sign in, and every now and then you get one that some spammer has abused. ISPs are usually pretty good about getting those out of the rotation if you complain.

Usually just took signing out and signing in again to clear the fault. Permanent solution was to switch to ATT.

That's who I have, AT&T. I've yet to log out of AK, unlimited data plan and such.

Sorry Robert just seeing you called and now this post, ha ha ha at least it wasn't real.

I had been a member on the audioreview.com forum. I don't know what changed, but for months they were getting a lot of pornography posts which they didn't seem to be able to block. I complained because some had non-porn titles and were not cool to open while at work. I stopped going there for a long time. I went back recently to find that I had been banned. No warning, just no access. I had been a member for over a decade. I guess they don't take criticism well. You would think with the minimal activity they've been having for some time, they would have thicker skin. If this is how they treat their posters, I say Bygones. I've never had that experience anywhere else.

I had that problem too and when you're banned you can't even PM a mod. I had an AK friend contact a mod for me. I guess there's nothing you can do to prevent it.

That reminds me of the days of dial-up, and/or AOL's proxy servers. You could not ban the IP address of anyone from AOL, since their proxy servers served millions. We all learned the hard way--ban someone by IP, and five others would also sporadically lose access. All cell carriers today have limited IP addresses, so using an IP ban on one of them is always risky.

I am accessing AK now using a VPN, as the hotels I stay at have open WiFi. The only site that has blocked me so far is Craigslist. Eff 'em. I can see why (it's a lame attempt at warding off spammers), but all they are doing is hurting legitimate types like myself who just want to check ads from the notifications that come my way. It's not that I can't post, I can't even view CL some of the time. For some reason, today I can get through. Two days ago, same VPN node in Salt Lake City? Nope.

Usually this is the case. As for not being able to PM a mod, you can always use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. That shows for everybody.

As well, I thought everybody knew that my email address is luvvinvinyl@audiokarma.org (It sure seems like it, some days, looking at my Inbox.)

So, you can always send me an external email, but, please identify yourself by AK handle, so that I know where to look. Not everyone uses just one email address.

Sorry for the trouble. Hope this helps.

Thanks all, AK is a nice relaxing end of the day read for me. It'd suck not being able to visit.

The problem with using mobile connections is by their very nature they constantly have to hop towers; which can mean a change in IP addresses. It can also be a hassle for some providers if they are natively IPV6 and have to tunnel your connections to IPV4 resources. If someone does some bad things on that network...then the tunnel IP gets banned and causes problems for everyone. It's been a while since I kept a watch on my IP on a mobile network; I would imagine with IPv6 it's different since part of your IP is based on the MAC address of your device. But I believe only TMobile and maybe AT&T are running native IPv6 on LTE...maybe Verizon.

Of course, a lot of residential broadband connections will change your IP if your router/modem is disconnected long enough for the release to expire; or they do some kind of network change. On my FiOS; I typically only change IP's if there's a power outage or the actual FiOS network goes down. Back in the dial-up days we got new IP's every time we dialed-out.

The best solution, aside from switching providers; is to use a VPN service. But you still have the same issues, most of those are used for abuse and get banned as well.
