What is your occupation?

Same as DC. I'm a retired Professional Musician and Band/Orchestra Director. I studied electronics repair in the mid '80's. Didn't start repairing and restoring vintage (mostly Pioneer and Nakamichi)
until I started finding them in thrifts and pawn shops in the very early '90's. (I avoided the rush apparently...)

But I still run across something nice every once in awhile.

Artist. Cascade Deconstructed. Originally started out as a oil painting. It got digitized into my "Line Series," then vectorized. Printed as a textile, then I exploded it like pick-up sticks. You can see a 13 x 9 foot version at the new (2016) Courtyard Marriott in NYC, downtown/World Trade Center. There digitized pixel version is there too.

First I would like to say thank you to all in this thread who have served-I am a plumber who also dabbles in handyman contracting learned as a house flipper. Gives me something to do when I am slow and a change of pace from my chosen trade.

I started off in telecommunications in 1973 and then later, specialising in industrial electronic systems, I moved into industrial instrumentation and process control. These days it's highly computerised with large scale networked distributed control systems, PLCs and electronic process instrumentation. Been through the communications, oil & gas, water supply and power industries. I currently work as an control and instrumentation maintenance technician in a large power station.

I service custom hand built CNC rotor milling machines and helical form grinders. One of 2 people in the country factory trained. Not the same as when I started 20 years ago but still entertaining and a lot less stressful. Semi retired now and will probably be this way for another 3 or 4 years. All tolled I'm out for maybe 16-20 weeks per year for 1 or 2 weeks at a time. So I'm at home most of the time.
