These are movies which might slip under the radar for most people, but have a certain oddball charm that attracts you to them. Here`s a few of my favorites from this category:

"Bagdad Cafe"
"The Darjeeling Limited"
"The Station Agent"
"Don Juan DeMarco"
"Poolhall Junkies"
"Super 8"
"I Am Number Four"
"The Good Thief"
"Chef"
"The Big Empty"

Who is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? (1978)
Mouse That Roared (1959)
The Mouse on The Moon (1963)
The Jabberwocky (1977)
Monty Python's The Life of Brian (1979)
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension (1984)
Conan The Barbarian (1982)
Flesh Gordon (1974)

Transmaster love your list. Great bunch of movies. Here is a off the wall flick. "J-Men Forever". The US is under attack by rock and roll and drugs. Like woody allen's "What up tiger lily" using old serial footage. Saw it on USA's "Night Flight" in the 80's.

The Last Lullaby (2008) - a morally ambiguous story, which is why I like it.
Last Night (2010)
Copenhagen (2014) - "When the girl of your dreams is half your age, it's time to grow up."
Easy Virtue (2008) - A liberal adaptation of a Noel Coward play. The comedy is low key
Limitless (2011) - maybe not a small film.

Catch-22 (1970)
How I Won the War (1967)
Lord of the Flies (1963)
Billy Jack (1971)
13th Warrior (1999)
Chato's Land (1972)
Valdez is Coming (1971)
The Seven-Ups (1973)

A few more:

"Lucky Number Slevin"
"Ghost World"
"Dazed and Confused"
"Napoleon Dynamite"
"Two Lane Blacktop"

As far as small films go, you've hit the nail pretty good. Bagdad Café and Station Agent were two of my favorites - Jack Palance as a painter.... And Marlon Brando as your shrink....(DJD)
Litlle Miss Sunshine when it was first released was a great find, but it got big. I think there was one called The Big Night with Stanley Tucci that I really liked.
Good list.
