Sony TC-136SD Recap 0013

Finally assembled and working.
Re: Sony TC-136SD.

I've had this deck for some time now, perhaps 6-9 months? I too have completely restored the machine to 99.9% of its orginal condition.

However, one major criticism of the 136SD is its poorly designed keyboard. Underneath I have had several keys fracturing even though the plastic keys were reinforced with metal pins. Sadly, it seems these weren't enough - the previous owner has obviously had issues over the years. The Stop key is very sensitive and easily halts any function - much of this can be attributed to the system-wide latch bar, which simply doesn't receive enough force. Yes, it works, but I had to increase the torsion spring's force to make a 'latch' reliable. I need to go even further than this by introducing an additional mid-bar spring-sheet to add more torque - I will do this at some later date.
