Thanks all! I don't have an 8-Track handy (nor do I have any deoxit) but I did clean the heads. Moving the volume controls around did clear it up a bit, so it might be as many have said: pots and switches just need to be cleaned.

I'm happy with what I hear over BT, but have not tried anything on the USB or optical inputs. Some of the reviews I read said the DAC was pretty good.

I have these, connected to my JVC turntable via a Schiit Mani phono amp. PROS: They look pretty and are extremely loud. Sound is actually quite full (and can be boomy) despite what some of the online reviews say about being too trebly. Plenty of connection options: BT, PHONO / LINE, AUX...
