2250 Rebuild-Distortion in the first 10 seconds - then fine

not to get off topic here, but my circuit specialists desoldering station has a hole on the end where you can grab the lead the same as the video shows without a separate needle. I recommend it to everyone looking to save money vs the hakko.

Things to watch out for when servicing a Sansui TU-919

How did this alignment go? I may embark on one sometime this year. I have cleaned/recapped mine and it is a fantastic performer. Digital dial is on station but the dial is off a couple ticks.

    FM IF Sweep Alignment Explained

Gentleman im getting close getting a measurable result. See my other thread. To some this task is quite easy but for a hobbyist like myself it took some time to figure out what I was supposed to do. https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/sansui-tu717-alignment.1054783/#post-17048431

    Sansui TU717 Alignment

Update: that trimmer cap is in fact a great substitute. I am going ahead and replacing it in another Sansui tu717 I’m working on since it makes adjustment way easier. Another update: with the help of a kind gentleman from Florida, he has helped me figure out how to get the if sweep to work...

    Distortion Meter Suggestions

Any new suggestions? I use an hp8903 thanks to Ray (am on my 2nd one due to the first one dying on me) and just purchased the inexpensive leader option as a backup and analog option for tuners.

    Sansui TU717 Alignment

Happy Easter! In the process of trying to remove the factory solder blob from the top of the trimmer capacitor tc04 which adjusted the high end of the dial location, the solder must have went inside and shorted the plates. Doh! I ordered several different types from digikey and found the...

    Sansui AU-919

Any update? I think it’s a good idea to remove the output transistors completely until you can make the amplifier come out of protection. I would operate it at 12 volts AC and test the driver boards voltages per the schematic and look for clues of something that is off (should be 10 percent)...

    Sansui TU717 Alignment

Here are photos of my unit. I am hitting the values in the manual pretty closely. With quick listening it sounds on par with a pioneer f-93 on my bench. A little tough to get the dial alignment and center tune meter set but eventually I was able to get it right after a few sessions.

    Sansui TU717 Alignment

Thanks. My issue is not the 1khz reading it’s the 10khz reading. Makes me wonder if something is off. Or if I’m being too picky. I don’t see people posting 10khz specs but was hoping the Sansui would be more linear. Later I will post some photos of the sweep generator in use to see if I have it...

    Sansui TU717 Alignment

I am learning how to align tuners on a Sansui TU717 and welcome your feedback. Some of the reasons I chose the TU717 to learn on is that this is one of my more inexpensive tuners with discrete components, the alignment procedure is brief, and this was a popular model so presumably there are more...

    FM IF Sweep Alignment Explained

I may start a new thread. My bk 415 sweep generator tells me to use a direct probe and not a detector probe. I’m not getting the results I expected.

    Sansui TU-717 Alignment Questions

What thd reading should I be expecting at 10khz in stereo? I am able to get 1khz down to around 0.1ish % but I am not able to get 10khz anywhere close it’s coming in about 1% thd at 65dbf output on my signal generator. Maybe I’m losing some output due to the adapter I’m using? My kenwood kt917...
