I agree. I gotta have subs for several reasons. I used direct radiating flavor of the month HT subs for years......but about 7-8 years ago I went to all THTLP's in my systems and haven't looked back. They've got it all. No doubt about it.
I had Bose QC35 II's and with the Tube Amp Pro option in the Samsung Galaxy S8 I had....they were very listenable. I liked them a lot.
Couple/few years ago I got a Galaxy S21 and the Tube Amp Pro option was gone. That sucked because it really worked great. Kept using the QC35 II's for a while...

I've come full circle in this audio hobby. I started to take it serious circa 2002 or so. I started out doing the home theatre, two-channel combo thing using AVR's. Home theatre wore off pretty quickly for me but two-channel listening stuck.
I batted around with all kinds of vintage...
I also have a 2i that I've thoroughly enjoyed for the last few years. As far as the volume setting on the Node itself, mostly what I read is that it should be set at full volume (100%) and you should control the gain with the volume knob on your preamp.
I've gotten much better sound quality...
