I'm trying to get myself in the train of thought that, if the price is reasonable, and it is something I am considering buying, I can most likely recoup my money if it turns out to not be my cup of tea.
I am currently in the market for a phono preamp and have been kicking myself for passing up a few good deals (Dynavector P75 MKII, Avid Pellar) before realizing that if I didn't like them, I could always resell them for what I paid. It might be bit of a hassle, especially with a cartridge, but may be worth it for the comparison/experience.
Up to now, I have no experience with LOMC cartridges (one of the reasons for my interest in a new phono stage), and know that their sound is generally preferred to HOMC, but I can't really recall reading much about the low output versions of the BP EVO or Blackbird. I guess it's something I should look into, as a new cartridge will be the next thing I save up for after the preamp.
Good luck, whatever you decide.
