Vintage film cameras

I was thinking a new digital one just to make sure im on the right track for picture taking.
That would be a good move, like I said meters in old cameras where reliant on batteries of that time.

Take note at 1.50 minute mark in this vid...

Why not just set your Nikon digital up as if you're shooting film and use that meter? Set the ISO and if possible the lens focal length in the manual settings. It should be able to tell you if you're in the ball park exposure wise.

Get what your saying but why lug around another camera when meters are cheap and small.Though i do not have one theres even an app that turns a smart phone into one.Maybe i could use the nikon to see if my meters on my oldies are correct or at least very close.

I will qualify my last statement about meters being cheap.I found several at the cheap end and some in the thousands of dollars. But not being a millionaire or a pro i will buy the cheapie:) 4-2-7 i was pretty bored with the vid till the lovely young lady came on then almost missed the meter ,lol.

I have been using the free light meter app on my iPhone and it has been accurate. Usually within 1/3 of a stop at its worst.

My camera store guy told me about that trikster but i swore off smart phones and only have a emergency stupid phone now.

I also use a handheld meter. Bout it used for $45. Has an incident meter and reflected light meter... works fine for 90% of what I shoot. I haven't used it in a while, I'll dig it out to get you a name and model.

Once you check your oldies against the Nikon, I wouldn't think you'd need to carry it around with you.

I was followed home today by 3 homeless cameras.Dont have the heart to kick them out so i will clean them up and let them stay.

You're walking thru some really sketchy neighborhoods if you're being followed home by that lot!
I'd watch myself if I were you.

Nice get. Looking forward to the Nikkormat revival pics.

My small amount of disposable money is being diverted from cameras to my stereo and getting it back to working order right now. I have more than enough camera gear to last me a good long while. (yeah, right, I'll believe that when the cows come home)

Take a gander at this pic guys.My new to me nikkomat 35mm has a chip in the lens.Original lens!Would this pic even though its out of focus etc be an accurate pic of what i might expect .Icant see a chip.It was taken with the lens on a d3100 dslr!I did get a nice 35-70mm sigma zoom macro for the cost of a couple of packs of smokes.

Don't see any image attached to your post 2011etec.

If the chip is on the front element of the lens at the edge, I don't think you'll see much more than a little distortion if you pixel peep the image. Film may be a different thing altogether though.

how about now.yah thats what im wondering as i dont have a clue.Best bet is to take 3 or so test pics then switch to the sigma.

Now I see an image. Too much camera shake to tell in that image.
Set it on a table with the self timer and take a shot if you don't have a tripod easily available.
