All Youtube Videos Look Blacked Out, No Thumbnail Photos?

Luther can look, I'm sure, but it's a YouTube problem.

I'm done with this thread.

I heard (from an iffy source) that anyone who posted a video on YouTube is now required to go back and select a 'thumbnail' to represent it in the links.

:dunno:

Here's a not-too-painful workaround. I think guys in the olden days of vBulletin did this. First you get the URL of the YouTube thumbnail by replacing the XXXXXXXXXXX with the 11 character YouTube ID (the random characters in the video URL):

http://img.youtube.com/vi/XXXXXXXXXXX/0.jpg

So I replaced the XXXXXXXXXXX with 1gQEvupSrRY and got http://img.youtube.com/vi/1gQEvupSrRY/0.jpg

Then embed this image using the "Image" tool in the editing tool bar. So now we have the same thumbnail for the Raveonettes that YouTube uses. Finally you select the embedded image and insert the URL for the actual YouTube video page using the "Link" tool in the editing tool bar. When you click on the video it takes you to the YouTube page and plays the video. It's a lot easier to do than describe. So click on the image below and see how it works. You'll see the 11 character YouTube ID in the video URL.

that works and it will add to clicks like you would hope if its your video .. i need to decipher your instructions in daylight .

How to “Lazy Load” Embedded YouTube Videos

This article describes the differences between "Lazy Load" - which I think is the way we do it now - and the full load way which is what we might have been doing before. By going to lazy load the number of calls to YouTube went from 22 to 5 (per video - including the thumbnail which is now missing) and the bandwidth from 674 KB to 102 KB. The 480x360 standard thumbnail is probably only around 20 KB.

Sooo ... I'm wondering if now there's a tweak to the "Lazy Load" function that you have to do to get the thumbnail?

Maybe YouTube was hosting their photo's on PhotoBucket :p

The past few days all youtube vids on this site just look black, with the title and arrow in the center. A black box and no thumb nail photo attached to the video. It doesn't matter if they are mine, or others ALL are black. I have deleted history on my browser, signed in and out on this site and Youtube, googled audiokarma and come to the site again that way. I have run sweeps of my system and I'm at a loss as to what to do.

I also get this from other computers in the house and my phone. The only other thing that I'v done lately is posting vids for the first time on Youtube, but there all thumb nails are attached.

It's only on this site that I know of, anyone else seeing this problem?

Look at this all video thread, to me all vids are black boxes

This is happening again, just started 6/19/19, 6:10 pm PST

This is all black^^^, with a white arrow in the middle.
That is what I see as well, black box with a grey inner box with a white arrow -
and when I click the arrow, the video comes alive and plays just fine

Yep, but the thumb nail image is not present so all vids just look like black boxes. We had this problem back when I started this thread two years ago and they fixed it, so I revived the thread when I seen it tonight. One minute it was fine and then they blacked out, so I put the date and approximate time in case they need that.

Just checked the site with my phone & Safari and it's the same issue as my iMac & Google Chrome.

Thanks for sharing this thread. I'm relieved to know that I didn't screw the pooch on my end. Hopefully man behind the curtain can do his magic.
