If the power supply to (and the decoupling of) the opamp isnt spot on, you'll likely hear the "significant differences" in opamp sound. Less so with good power.
would hate to introduce something in the signal path to mess that up.

Plenty of people in this thread were raving about tube pres in the signal path.
