Late to the party in this thread, but I was a kid in the 1970s and recall the awe I felt in the presence of the silver-face stereo systems my friends' parents had (not my own parents, sadly). And I'm feeling it again now. Those integrated receivers with all the knobs and buttons hit all the right aesthetic and nostalgic notes for me. Now that we have a turntable and have rediscovered the joy of sitting around with friends, talking and listening to vinyl records, I think we're going to have to replace our black, tunerless Denon amplifier with something in classic silver from the Technics or Pioneer stable.

technics did make a black face sa 1000. I always thought it was the European version but what do I know apparently not muchMy Sansui 9090 and 990DB are pretty nice, and there is some other stuff I own that makes me say "Wow"! Two of the receivers that I do not own and I admire are the Technics SA-800 and the Technics SA-1000, both of them, by the way, were never sold in Europe, so they are extremely rare over here.
It may well have lived in the desert.I want to walk my baby down the catwalk....Here is my Mark Levinson 332.
I got it in very bad shape....looked like it served a tour in the Middle East.
