    Glass Audio Back Issues??

I’m looking for the following article: Rickard Berglund, “Quick, Simple Output Transformer Tests,” GA 1/95, pp. 24, 49. I would appreciate it if you can scan it and send me a copy. If you do not have a scanner, then it’s easiest to just take some pictures with your mobile phone. You may need to...

Can a 150w EL34 Class B Mixing amp sound good?

Not much more than -36V, say -37~38V.

Can a 150w EL34 Class B Mixing amp sound good?

As mentioned earlier, the B+ and screen voltages have to be lowered.

Can a 150w EL34 Class B Mixing amp sound good?

With -36V bias, there is very little class A output at all, i.e., nearly all of the output is class B. You will have to judge it for yourself if the sound is acceptable or not, since you are using it for hi-fi not PA application.

Can a 150w EL34 Class B Mixing amp sound good?

Didn't see the different winding voltages earlier, in this case, you CAN NOT wire the them in parallel. Instead you need to find other ways to lower the B+ voltage, such as MOSFET or resistive voltage dropper. The screen voltage will drop in proportion to the plate voltage once the voltage...

    HK Citation 2 with KT150's!

It's not the first time I heard about the bigger KT's limitations. This is very good advise, thanks!

Pilot AA-901 Clone Build (KT66 PP)!

+1, this is very important even if the Stancor clone meets its original specs, which seems to have -3dB around 40-50kHz, if that is true, then restoring the Pilot to Williamson's original design (as I suggested) is pretty much out of the question.

Pilot AA-901 Clone Build (KT66 PP)!

Very likely, it would be interesting to see the specs for the custom OPT to see just how close they meet the original Williamson specs, in particular at the extremes of the frequency band.

Pilot AA-901 Clone Build (KT66 PP)!

Interesting, I did not know the connection between Pilot and RCA... anyway, for a scratch build. wouldn't it make sense to restore the circuit back to the original Williamson design, especially the first stage and the PSU?

Pilot AA-901 Clone Build (KT66 PP)!

Wonder what was going through Pilot's designers' minds to hack up the Williamson design, especially on the PSU. Perhaps the competition was so fierce that shaving a few dollars off from the PT was a compromise they were willing to make.

    Quick silver mono amps

Some of the Quicksilver amplifiers are known for their ability to eat tubes due to certain careless design choices. The problems could be remedied with some relatively minor modifications though. Please let us know the model number and which output tubes are used on these units.
