    KA791

Hello Kenwood fans. I just repaired one of these integrated amplifiers that would not power up. I traced the problem to a 10uF, 35V electrolytic cap that is on the front PCB right next to the memory super cap. Sorry I don't remember what number it was on the PCB. The old cap was completely open-...

    Electronics supply store recommendations?

If there is a Microcenter store there, they have a SMALL selection of stuff. DigiKey, Mouser, etc for the win.

No you can't. Even if the unit being tested is dead shorted, it will just light at full brightness.

SX-550 with factory transistor installed incorrectly??? AF Muting Board

I would not assume this is a factory transistor. I would check the pin out with a DMM set to diode mode. It will tell if the junctions are good and the direction you expect.

SX-550 with factory transistor installed incorrectly??? AF Muting Board

I think the 2SC945 transistor matches the silkscreen: ECB Now that being said, is this an original 2SC945 or a KSC945? If it's a KSC945, it's wrong because only a KSC945C has the same pin out as the 2SC945. Look at the datsheet for KSC945. This is why MTF will not recommend this part number for...

    JVC AX-40 Amplifier Speaker Connection

If it's the kind of binding post I'm thinking of. I used a fork style terminal. I'm not sure what they are actually called. I soldered them on and used heat shrink so there would not be any stray wires to short out the amp!

    JVC AX-435 vs Yamaha AX-470

Probably both fine if they are working in spec. They are getting up there in age and could be gone through to check for out of tolerance components.

    Sony CDP-200 Early CD Player

I recently watched a YT video where a guy used silicone(?) to make a mold from an old, cracked gear and cast a new one from epoxy resin. The new gear worked a treat!

No display on a Denon AVR-1906

Those diagrams are horrible. Maybe I don't understand how to read them compared to other manufacturers diagrams. I'm not seeing any voltages listed on the diagram. Is this with a real pressed CD or CD-R? CD-R will have a lower output. Try several pressed CDs.

Any Casseiver Fans out there ?

Is the belt actually slipping? Is it still stretchy? JVC used very high quality rubber for the most part. Try cleaning the belt with a paper towel saturated with acetone. Maybe clean the pulley and flywheel too. Now does it slip? It could be the motor slowing down too.

JVC rx-999vbk no sound from right channel with speakers and headphones

If this has MAIN IN / PRE OUT jumpers unplug them and plug them back in. I would also check the speaker protection relay. This unit has all electronic controls, correct? If you can indeed separate the MAIN IN / PRE OUT, try feeding a variable level signal into the MAIN IN to see if the problem...
