    Blue-Ray Movies

The French Connection....only to read that they completely screwed up the transfer. this is why i'm not going to jump into the Blu-ray fray.

    Need Nikon DSLR recommendations

whatever you do dont get a D60. It never gets the exposure right, even with the exposure compensation wheel, and creates all sorts of washouts. Get the D90.

    Budget Bookshelf Speaker Survey

Nice write up. Can the Infinities really be THAT good? I know Stereophile came all over them, but they also did for the Polk Rti4. My brother has the tower RTi8s and they are thoroughly mediocre. I vote for the Epos. When I heard my first pair, the ES14, back in 1994 I knew that was it...

If you had 2 CDs to WOW people with, What would they be?

Oh boy, most of the music I like is poorly recorded lol. I'll go with Joe Jackson-Body and Soul and Rush--Moving Pictures. The aforementioned Nightfly is good too.

Ohm E vs Boston A70 vs Polk Monitor 7

Go for the similarly sized but far better 3-way Ohm L!

    Polk RTi A 5,7,9

Nope. Some people will evaluate speakers using a cheap and/or underpowered amp but not in this case.

    Polk RTi A 5,7,9

My brother has the predecessor RTi8 tower. They look and sound cheap, the woofers cracking and bottoming with just 65 watts. They were 350 bucks. If you think Subway makes a good sandwhich and a Pontiac Grand Am is a good drive, then you will like these speakers..You can do a lot better used.

Ohm Acoustics & Walsh Driver Show 'n' Tell

    Carver amp question

Thats it! I also found it here..thanx. "The similarity ends there. While the TFM-55 had what was called a "Magnetic Field Power Supply" [click here for photo], the A-760x has a new marketing term, called "Magnified Current". This allows the 760 to deliver either high voltage or high current...

Which Carver amps are the Magnefied Current designs, as opposed to the old Magnetic Field? And is there a specific year when they switched over?

NHT 3.3 Speakers - Your Thoughts?

The guy from Stereophile drove the 3.3s with an Aragon 4004 MK II and loved em. I heard 3.3s with the lower line Acurus A250--the amp I have-and it just could not do the the big NHTs justice. I love NHTs. They seem to have a lot of the qualities I love in my Walshes.

    Headphone amplifiers

I would just buy an old receiver like a Vector Research 7000. That drove my Sennheiser 580s to perfection. I got one on the bay for 50 bucks. I have AKG 240s now but have not tried then with the Vector. Dropping even just 200 bucks to properly drive your phones is ridiculous, esp. as...

    Preamp suggestions

Looking for the most transparent preamp that also has a remote with input switching on it and a headphone jack. :music: Bass and treble would be a plus too. Todays CD remasters are just killing me!

    NHT Owners???

Heres a comparison of the SB-3s to the Rainmakers.....looks like the Classic 3s should put up a good fight.. "The NHT SB-3 was warmer, richer, and less detailed than the Totem, with less detailed highs as well, but sounded very well balanced. The NHT was forgiving and subtractive at the...

    Just a little Sunfire porn

I don't understand this "nudie" fixation. I have never had any desire to see the inside of any audio component. The sound quality satisfies all my need. The inside of an Ohm Walsh, for example, looks like hell but it sure sounds great. :music:

Any brand that's known for quality LOW bass?

"Positioned against the rear wall and driven by the Threshold SA-1 monos, the Walsh 5s' bass was excellent in terms of extension, dynamic power, and definition. I remember JGH going gaga over the bass quality from several of his CDs, and declaring the bass reproduction as the best he's ever...
