I did! Excellent points in both posts. I especially appreciated your “not a religion” statement. As much as I love getting swept up in the romance of old gear, I sometimes worry that kind of thinking is just coloring my outlook.

Ooh!? Do tell. . . I've been applying the oil w/ 0000 steel wool as suggested here, and by the manufacturer, but hadn't thought of sanding. Do you wait a bit for the oil to dry down, then sand it out?

Love the loudness curve on my AU-9500, use it anytime I feel like it! Totally dependent on the source material, listening level & situation!!! Gets quite a bit more use than the EQs, which are almost always bypassed on my amp. . . just another tool to get the music sounding right for your ears!!!
