So, after tripping over this thread, I kept and eye out for WH recordings at the junk/thrift stores. I found two, a sampler and a George Winston (Autumn). Both are on BASF Chrome tape and even state it clearly on the J Card. Interesting.
My set was in worse shape. New woofer surrounds, new level controls on the back and a recap (may not be needed- the caps the used were serious) and all was well.
$150 or so for Thomas Dolby's Astronauts and Heretics. Appears to only have one pressing and a small UK only one at that. Very rare in the US (I sourced mine in the UK).
Too bad they did not do this more seriously. All we have are half-asssed attempts. Taping on the cart? Really? Use a 3D printer and make a real adapter at least.
Now, this assumes it was not an April Fools joke....
For some reason they do not get the credit they deserve. My guess, because this is what I thought the first time I saw a pair, is that they look cheap and are really narrow. Just do not look the part. They sound fantastic, however.
They figured that "everyone else is doing it, so why shouldn't us" during the pandemic. Hopefully that will burn them in the end, however, people did pay the AMA so whose fault is it??
