I'm pretty sure it's a wee bit deeper than that... I think Gordon nailed it. :thmbsp:

Very cool! Thank you for posting this. I enjoyed reading it. Thank you Chris and Widget for being there for Evan. It is now evident that the audio community was his family and he very much enjoyed the dynamic interaction. He had a voracious appetite for knowledge. He rigorously applied...

Zilch's AK Design Collaborative - Econowave Speaker

Then you just use an LE10H instead which handles a ton more input and has significantly better performance in every way. I see no point in using an 8-inch in a box for a 10-inch, epsecially an 8-inch with a little 2-inch coil (compared with the 3-inch in the ten) and no xMax to brag about...

    Back to JBL system/with pictures

Sounds pretty cool. I deleted the contents of my other post. I just figured that you should know that it all was real. I posted way more information over the years than what some would deem prudent. I guess oftentimes no story is better than half the story.

    JBL Haul ... L56 ... L112 ... L150A ...

It does seem that the 033 dome takes more pressure to dent. It also seems to retain it's shape better and that's what I meant by pliant. The 044 and 066 domes seem thinner, lighter and harder due to the aluminum coating. They just don't take dents very well. Here is the propaganda...

    JBL Haul ... L56 ... L112 ... L150A ...

I've serviced quite a few of them over the last 30 years. The 044 and 066 were hardened via a vapor deposition process (acrylic enamel). And you're right, any one of them are easily poked in with a finger. That's why a vast majority of them needed service.

    JBL Haul ... L56 ... L112 ... L150A ...

They're both phenolic. The 044 and 066 were slightly hardened while the 033 was left pliant.

Marrying the Altec 416z with the 604c.

It sounds like you've spent alot of time on the Lansing Heritage website reading various posts! Cool! :thmbsp: The top plate dimensions are the same at .280 The E120 and E130/E140 have a thicker ferrite donut to increase gap flux. Gordon has always been an excellent resource. That goes...

Is this the right woofer for these?

You're correct. Once Qtc dips below ~ 0.5 one begins to move away from acoustic suspension characteristics wherein the enclosure volume offers a restoring force towards infinite baffle characteristics wherein the only purpose the enclosure serves is to separate the front and rear waves of the...
