Yea, but have you ever heard how glorious b-flat (60 cycles) sounds coming through a pair of Snell Type A's ?!

    Skr cable length/guage question

I always seem to have 14/2 or 12/2 solid electrical cable around... from various construction-type wiring projects. I've run 14/2 into a crawl space, back up into a wall cavity in another room and into a regular nail-on single gang box. Seems to work pretty good, if you don't need the...

    Any Snell Acoustics Owners?

bpape - I might as well bug you with the same questions about your A's I've been bugging everyone else with. How far in to your A's did you get? For example, What were your Type A's serial numbers? Can you tell me the dc resistance of the tweeter and midrange? In fact, what tweeters...

name some speakers with the tweeter on the bacl...

It was not a Snell. The Type III was the first model w/ a rear firing tweeter. But that came out in 1983. The original post here says, "late seventies." It wasn't the "Q", because that wasn't offered until 1987. And the EII and EIII didn't come out until '84 and '89, respectively...

    Re-capping Snells.....yay or nay

The J's were, I believe, created after Peter Snell's death. If I'm right, from what I hear, the Kevin Voeck designed (pseudo?) "Snells" are not created w/ near the same "magic" as PS's creations -A and C-series, I think. So, you may not have as much to worry about as you thought. I don't...

    Resizing Pictures - Read This!!

O.K. Yea, there's a little bit of difference. But I have seen way much more crappier pics than that posted in AK, and consider anything close to those two to be fine enough resolution for the purpose.

    Resizing Pictures - Read This!!

Those two pictures look identical. No pixelation on either! What's up w/ that? (I always use photoshop to convert to the max allowable width of 900; the height automatically changes proportionately.)

    Any Snell Acoustics Owners?

Yea, I've got a pair of the Type A's, the first ones, that I've driven everyone here nuts w/ questions about while I try and refurbish them. Huge suckers...

    Modular Synthesizers?

Phil - You had a two voice Oberheim? Pretty coincidental. I think they only made three. No, really, I never saw anyone else around here w/ one. I always wish I had had the bucks for the four voice, but hey, I did some amazing things in my little home studio w/ the two voice, my Sony 788 four...

    Modular Synthesizers?

I've still got my Oberheim two voice, TVS-1(?). It's a little beauty. No pics right now, but if you're interested... That picture is pretty kool. I haven't seen a set-up like that in quite awhile. Lower left is a Mini-Moog, lower right looks like a little Arp. Those were fun days. Joseph

Rectilinear III and DQ-10 specialists - what mid?

AD5060/SQ8 Photo Thought I'd post a pic of my 'SQ8's if anyone's still interested... Mine clearly do NOT have the fabric surround "covered with black rubber" as the spec sheet indicates! What's up w/ that? Joseph

    Snell Type A Specs

Left or Right? DC - About that pic of your Snell Type A you posted here a while back... I'm curious about that felt damping on the left side of the tweeter. Do you happen to remember if this picture is of the right or left unit? In other words, was that felt on the "outside" or toward the...

    Ohm speaker help...

Ohm can definitely sell you replacements for woofers, mids and tweeters. But the cost is a lot more than re-foaming. You don't have much to lose by trying it yourself. And if you screw it up... you're only out what... $25 or so? But, yes, factory replacements (and upgrades when it comes to...

    Ohm speaker help...

Yea, very fixable. Keep 'em. I am an original owner of a pair of these. These are pretty efficient little speakers. If I recall correctly (and I frequently don't) these were supposedly the "first computer designed speakers." I'm sure someone out there will correct me if I'm wrong. There are...
