    A few Sansui accessories

No, the DAC is not bypassed - they are balanced analogue interconnect cables. If at all possible, I'd suggest trying to find some semi-decent cables with Neutrik XLR connectors and Van Damme, Canare, Mogami or Belden wire. They will not be particularly expensive, but are essentially...

    AU-517 for Repair and Restore

What a wonderful post! Congrats on your restored 517 and the joy that it has brought you, as well as John. This is what our hobby - nay passion - is all about. John is truly a gem.

Sansui AU-999 face plate dissasembly struggle

Agreed - I can't ever recall seeing an AU-999 with round toggles - only the square items as per below

    Show Me Your Sansui!

My trusty and beloved Sansui AU-Alpha 907MR in a new house and new room, with new Legacy Audio Studio HD speakers too. Sounds simply sublime!

New house, new room, same Sansui

It's been a long time between system updates (circa 2020 to be exact) as life, family and work has taken up a lot of my time and shifted my priorities. I was fortunate to move house just before Christmas and have recently finished setting up my audio gear in the new house. 2 channel Front...

    AU-555 vs AU-555A

Please check the dates - you're 14 years too late to the party ;)

    Leestereo's Restoration/Upgrade of a Sansui AU-555A

I'm assuming you're listening/testing with the internal metal shields installed? If not, these amps can hum.

Here's an interesting one - Sansui "Switch Box" -The Ultimate A/B+ selector (and related discussion)

Sorry for potentially dragging this a bit off-topic, but this Kenwood AX-201 certainly is different! @skippy124 acquired this one around 15 years ago (we think!) and it's an interesting unit, with a different layout and configuration to most. The speaker connections almost "look" Sansui-ish...

AU-317 first time service, and a problem...

It’s a 1.5mm Allen / hex head grub screw that retains the volume knob across this particular series of Sansuis. There are quite a few older threads on this topic, as the question gets asked every so often.

Here's an interesting one - Sansui "Switch Box" -The Ultimate A/B+ selector (and related discussion)

Very nice! They are quite a cool bit of kit. Note that Sansui x-balanced amps most likely will not tolerate being used on a speaker switch box as the negative/common speaker are often tied together on these devices. To this, X-balanced says no!

    AU999 Pre-amp mod.

The subsonic filter on the 999 impacts on the bass response below 100hz and should be removed regardless of what music you listen to IMHO. Data courtesy of smurfer77 and skippy124 produced something similar.

    Sansui product history

Fully agreed. I'm confident that the AU-501 model does not exist - it is most likely an AU-505.

    Au-Alpha 607MR vs. Au-X901 vs Au-X701

Yes, but thankfully the alpha x-balanced amps bucked that trend.

Newbee to alpha series 907 vs 711 mod

I have a modded 711 (along with two other 607-equivalent models - the 701 and the 607MRX) and also have several 907s including the DR. All of the 607 models sound great, but I find the 907s to offer a bit more magic. The difference becomes even more apparent the harder you push the amps. The...

    Sansui au-x501 vs AU-D5/D7

AU-X501 for sound quality, but that assumes you prefer a more accurate and detailed sound quality characteristic. I do, and in comparison to later amps like the 501, the 717/710 sounds slightly veiled. Each to their own though.

Refoaming woofers on Sansui SP-100i JDM speakers

I can’t recall exactly - it was four years ago when I last worked on these - but there are only the four screws securing the woofer into the wooden cross-brace behind. There’s a fairly firm rubberized seal between the alloy woofer chassis and the speaker cabinet to make it airtight, so the...

    B-2301 restoration (@#$%@@!! glue)

The question is... which Infinity speakers? Some of the larger, higher-end models dip far below 4 ohms and are quite tricky to drive.
