$600 - What Would You Do?

Yeah I’m not married to Spotify premium, I need to at least try Tidal and spend a little time and money on revamping my digital music. The Node 2i does look pretty nice. Just not sure how much of an upgrade it would be if I’m happy with the MODI. I actually have the office system dismantled...

It does feel like a need sometimes. Clean, loud music centers the mind.

$600 - What Would You Do?

I do like this idea. Might have to mess with a wireless kit in order to place the second sub. Love the sound of the SB2000 What about running the pre-out to a better power amp so I can keep bass management and hdmi switching? Or would you go totally different?

$600 - What Would You Do?

My music is nearly all mp3 and Spotify. What would you recommend? I agree with you, especially with the layout I have in the main living area. Been trying to nudge my wife to accept this for the main system but it has been difficult.

I thought so too at first but this is from the Schiit website: Stereo, 8 Ohms: 100W RMS per channel Stereo, 4 Ohms: 200W RMS per channel Mono, 8 ohms: 400W RMS I don't need one but I would still really like to try the Vidar out.

$600 - What Would You Do?

I have 2 systems and $600 to play with. What would you do with around $600 as the biggest improvement to either (or options for both). Primary 2.1 Living Room System: Marantz NR1504, Kef Q100, SVS SB2000. Source is an Xbox One X for general TV/Games/Movies/Music. Office System: Marantz 2285B...

    Vintage Setup - Speaker Issues w/ aux(iphone)

I have this issue as well when playing from my iPhone to my Marantz 2285B via AUX. It happens when the phone goes into lock and intermittently during play if some other functions are happening (like pressing the home button). Sometimes I am unable to determine the cause as well. Does your...

What are some speakers you would recommend for a new "Audiophile"?

It’s tempting to try and lead someone directly to whatever conclusions you might have come to with years of experience. However, I feel the best strategy is to simply get them started on their own journey and let their taste develop organically. If they catch the itch, we all know there isn’t...

Pandemic home office system (what's yours like)

I’m not even going to post the garbage heap I’ve been working in for the past several weeks. My “office” has been serving as the catch-all for the rest of the house as my wife goes full on nesting mode getting ready for our first kid. I’m not complaining though, I have some Elac 6.2s on the way...

    First Setup

Nice buy. I’ve liked all the KEFs I’ve listened to so far and have become quite the fan the last couple years. Once you get things more situated after your move, get a little more distance between those Q70s if you have the room and the soundstage should open up.

    SVS Subwoofer 200.00??

$200 would be a steal assuming everything works. I just ordered one new for $650.

SVS-PC2000 Review, for the love of the bottom octave.

What are your room dimensions and what kind of stuff are you playing? Movies/music/gaming? I have an SB2000 on order right now. Went with the sealed sub because the WAF is higher with the smaller box, and if I ever have any hope of the wife allowing duals in the living room I need them to be as...

Brand New Marantz SR-7012 $999 or Refurbished 6012 for $699?

Tough call but for a $300 savings I'd go 6012. Unless 15wpc and .03 less THD is worth it to you. Especially if the savings could get you a whole other component for your set up. I currently run a refurbished NR1508 from accessories 4 less and it's been great. I'd have no reservations about a...

    Subwoofer-compatible amps under $500 USD?

Yeah, that could work too. Something like this: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_142LOC80/Scosche-LOC80.html?source=pjn&subid=43737 Maybe not the most elegant solution, but definitely the cheapest for the OP. The unit I linked even has gain controls and wiring attached.

    Subwoofer-compatible amps under $500 USD?

I have been doing a lot of research lately on integrated amps and receiver's in the $500 - $600 range. Going to be getting something for my living room in the next couple months to run double duty as home theater and general listening. The Yamaha A-SX01 line is high on my list, and sounds like...

    Hi Fi Audio in Tokyo

Got back stateside late last night. We had a great time and did A LOT in a week. I wasn't able to get to as many hi-fi shops as I'd have liked but I did make the pilgrimage to Hifido, checked out Akihabara, and looked around Tower Records. Hifido was amazing. So much quality gear per square...

Thanks for the replies all! I have a list of places to go, and I don't think my wife knows how much time I'm capable of spending looking at electronics and audio goodies.

    Hi Fi Audio in Tokyo

Hi all, My wife and I are taking a vacation to Tokyo here in a couple weeks. I was wondering if any fellow AKers know of, or have experience with some cool places to check out audio gear. Stores, show rooms, or even big box places that have decent stuff. I plan on going to Akihabara to see the...

An AR 15 makes a very good defensive weapon. Less cumbersome than a pump action shotgun, easier to use under stress, and of course significantly more capacity. There is ammo designed for home defense if you are worried about over penetration.
