    Estate sale find: JVC QL-Y5F

My wife brought this home from an estate sale (love my wife). The cartridge and arm were not setup correctly but easy to fix. Did run into, even with the weight all the way forward, it would only track at .8g. I need to change the headshell, but for quick fix, I just added a washer and it now...

    Silvertone 8045

Anyone have any information on this Silvertone 8045 tube radio/record player? One of our kids brought it over for me to take a look at on the bench. It has obviously been sitting for some time, but seems to be intact.

    Gifted a Technics SL-1700

I was over at a good friend's house yesterday, when he said he had something for me. He gave me a Technics SL-1700. He said he never uses it anymore, since he got a VPI Prime Signature table. Also, it has a Pickering XUV 4500-Q quad cartridge on it. I have zero quad records, so I will need to...

    Behringer NU6000 fan replacement

While I like the power the NU6000 has, I don't like the noise from the fans. Especially when the amp is in the room, where I'm watching movies. So, I decided I needed quieter fans. I chose some Arctic F8 fans. I got them from Amazon for $6 each. What a deal. These are exact size replacements...

    Rotel RX-1050 tuner issue

Got a strange one. In stereo mode no FM. Dead quiet. In mono, tuning the FM dial gets AM stations. It reads an FM number but the station is AM. How is that even possible. Maybe a microprocessor issue?

    Anaview D-Class ALC0240-2300

My latest project. The base module will run 55wpc in stereo and 200 in mono, so I built two. I added a switch so I can run them as stereo amps or as a set of mono blocks. To add some versatility, I installed Alps potentiometers. I can run them as stand alone stereo amps or add a pre and better...

    Restoring some Electro-Voice 12TRXB speakers

Today's project: restore these old Electro-Voice 12TRXB speakers. Cabinets are in great shape. They just need some oil and black paint. Also, the pencils used to hold the grill will be replaced with real grill holders. The potentiometer, or so called brilliance control on the back, needs some...

    Altec 870B refinished

These Altec speakers sat in my shed for the last 10-15 years. I took them out last weekend and refinished the cabinets. The grill cloth came in today, so I finished them. JBL L100 refurb

I sanded these down with 600 grit paper for a baby butt smooth surface, sprayed several coats of polyurethane, put on new tweeter foam rings and replaced the twist pin speaker connectors with 5-way binding posts. I do have some foam coming for the speaker grills.
