I'm using a Stanton 881s cartridge with a generic stylus that I can't remember who makes it. I've tried a lot of Shures but never any ATs. My setup sounds great to my ears and is very musical.
I think my Thorens TD-125 II and X-202 are a great combination. I changed the old caps in the phono section to the yellow (Illinois?) ones. Tubes are critical and I'm liking the new issue Mullard ones now. But I've also had good results with Sovtek LPS and of course the old Telefunkins that...
I've bought two from the ebay guy. It's been a few years ago so I don't know if the quality has changed, but they worked really well. One I had to mount 180 degrees opposite to the original and the travel to the 'off' click is a bit longer.
I've bought two from the guy around 5yrs ago. One of them I had to rotate the pot for it to agree with the dial but both worked really well. I've read recently quite a few negative reviews so maybe he's not getting a quality product any longer.
Really clean 500-B congrats. I'm not sure I'd be spraying contact cleaner everywhere but I guess it won't hurt. I think a better cleaning solution is IPA - isopropyl alcohol above 90%. It's not unusual to lose or move letters when cleaning the dial glass even under the most careful conditions...
Have you tried Farnell UK? I used them when I lived in the UK a few years ago.
I like the pencil - styled caps that Rubycon and some others make for stuffing cans.
I couldn't remember the voltage for those replacement caps but here's a listing from Farnell...
Sometimes overly spraying with contact cleaner can damage the wafers or make them weak enough to crack. Best to dip a small brush in in a bit of cleaner and brush the contacts avoiding the wafers.
