It's a shame about the corner of the faceplate, but it's still a great looking receiver. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a perfect replacement for the faceplate down the road.

Perhaps it was the 128. I was thinking I could playback a tape or an LP without having to record it, but I may be mistaken, after all, it was 1980-81, and my memory has faded over the years! And I did record all of my LP's onto tape back then.

I may flip them down the road, but right now they're just something to play with.

I haven't even hooked them up. They need some serious repair work, a couple of cones, surrounds, and I'm sure the crossovers need recapped, but they were dirt cheap and it'll give me something to do, so I bought them.

I just bought a pair of Pioneer CS-811 speakers. They're rough, but for the price I couldn't pass them up. I don't know anything about this particular model, but I suspect it is a middle of the line speaker, possibly 80's vintage. Any and all info on these would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend you mask off the area you don't want sprayed with some newspaper and tape. If you hold the spray nozzle too close, it will really pile on the adhesive, and will take forever to set, and will probably splatter onto other areas as well. That's great! Anytime you can save valuable, hard to find parts, and still acheive good results, the better! And my guess is, if that head hasn't been lapped before, which it probably hasn't, it should operate well for many years to come.

The spots on the meter bezels appears to be the plastic chrome plating is popping/blistering (if those bezels are indeed plastic, they can be replated). If you do a search on the web, you will find some places that specialize in replating plastic chrome. I wouldn't recommend using chrome polish...

It sounds to me like some adjustments are in order, as cbrworm mentioned, or maybe the tape is running too tightly against the heads? I'm just tossing out ideas here, I'm not an expert by any means.

I've always had the impression that Dual turn tables were excellent, everything else they built was middle of the road or less. But then, I've never actually owned anything Dual made, so who am I to know?
