Signal strength meter not working and no stereo reception

I have a Lafayette LR-810 I got for a really good deal and since I have been using it, the signal strength meter has stopped working for FM. It still works fine on AM, just not FM. I also am not getting any FM stereo, no light turning on, and no stereo sound. Any help would be appreciated.

Glad I decided to give them a chance - Criterion DS-1 speakers

As I said more than once - I dont need any new speakers. I am pretty happy with the ones I have ( and I have too many as it is). But sometimes I just cant stop myself if I see something unusual and interesting for sale. And this is what happened this time as well. I saw these Criterion DS-1...

Picked up a Lafayette LR-100, but have questions.

So I bought this unit for five bucks at a yard sale without being able to really test. After getting it home, it seems to have power as I'm hearing radio stations, but the volume/balance controls which are really part of the same knob seem to be having trouble. I'm not getting any right side at...

    Lafayette T2000 - CEC build?

Question for the turntable gurus here: There's a Lafayette T2000 turntable up for sale locally, at what I consider a good price -- that is, if my understanding of these tables is correct. I've read that the t2000 is essentially a Marantz 6100, also built by CEC in the heyday of 70s mass market...

    Hello I am Vincent Nicotra

I have been on audiokarma on and off for 10 years. I am an audiophile specialist who got involved with audio gear since the age of 6 where I took a part my 8 track player just to see how it worked. Over the years I have gotten into restoring Tube audio as well as Peaker re-coning and...

    Lafayette 1003 speakers

Hello all, I’m at a friend’s house and from the corner of my eye to the corner of his work bench in the jam room I saw these Lafayette speakers sitting there. Rated for 30 watts. Anyone know any details about the quality of these or what they’re worth if working? The surround is completely...

Member for awhile but now a subscriber.

Hi All, Glad to have access to Barter Town now. Have been using Audiokarma for years doing research on my audio gear from the past...mostly late '70's to early 80's. Most recently have hooked up with a local guy that sells LP's and classic audio gear. Have started working on some of them for...

    Lafayette LR-1515 Idle Current Adjustment

Hey everyone! Just finished recapping and cleaning up a Lafayette LR-1515 and it sounds great, but the heat sync gets really hot. Like too hot to touch. My guess is the idle current is way too high after re-capping the unit. Usually, this isn't a big deal for me if I have the service manual...

    Receiver and Speakers Compatibility

Hello, Fairly a novice when it comes to vintage gear. Currently have Lafayette SK-300 speakers. 8 ohms and 25 watts. I’m thinking of getting a Kenwood KR-2400 receiver. I believe that it outputs 16 Watts. Some places online say 20 watts, but I’m gonna stick with 16. Also 8 ohms. Will this...

    Lafayette Stereo-25 Info?

Hey guys! I just picked up a Lafayette model "Stereo-25". It's such a cute little amp! Sounds pretty good overall, but it's definitely not a flat amp. Bass is a bit over-boosted in the center position and the highs are a bit weak with the the treble in its center position . Not sure if this is a...

Lafayette LR-3500 DC Offset and Speaker Relay Question

Hello everyone, I acquired a Lafayette LR-3500 back in February in working condition. Upon acquiring it, I performed some basic servicing. I created this thread in order to figure out how to adjust the bias and did so with success. This receiver does not have a dc offset adjustment but only...

Help Wanted Biasing a Lafayette LR-3500

Hello everyone, I am new to the AudioKarma forum, however, I have been viewing the site for a few months now. Quad Lafayette LA-44 Odd little unit, whats the power output per channel?

I bought this and the MPX FM tuner and I've seen 50 watts per and 42 watts per but I'd bet it's more like 15-20 anyone know what this thing was rated at? Beyond that it works terrific. I'm sure a recap would give it a bit more punch but it's not bad as it is. The sound quality is pretty average...

    Setton RS660 Power Switch Question

I'm getting back to some work on my Setton RS660. The issue I'm dealing with is the power switch and speaker thump when I turn the unit on. Have done some reading and these switches are known to be problematic and were also used in some Lafayette units with similar problems. I've managed a...

    Lafayette LR-810 - new acquisition

I gotta say, I'm a big fan of the form factor. It's small (fits on my desk). It's not flashy. And the layout is simple... just like I like it. I found this on Craig'slist for $50. Bought from the original owner AND included the Owner's Manual. It has a very warm sound through my old Polk...

Asymmetrical amplifier output on sine wave - LR-1500TA

First of all, still learning things. That said, I have a Lafayette LR-1500TA that works - for the most part. I've recapped it and deox'd it. Gone through bias current adjustment and balanced the voltages. It sounds fine, up to mid-level. At some point as I raise the split-volume control...

Boo...(Hiss) on the inputs Lafayette LR-1500T

Greetings all, I'm having a small issue with my LR-1500T receiver. I know that having some degree of noise is common in the phono stage, but that's not what this is. This is a broad-spectrum white noise that is probably 10 times what it should be. That said, if there is something hooked up to...

Lafayette LR-1500T - need help ID'ing these transistors

This receiver sounds like either the outputs are failing or the driver transistors are weak. Being that it's a 1968 era machine, the transistors are pretty foreign to me. The outputs are SanKen DF2 and the drivers are marked on the schematic as DF3 and BF3. I'm guessing that someone has...

Those 1960s and 1970s Low-Cost (IE, Cheap) Microphone Mixers

Greetings .... Who remembers using those very cheap microphone mixers of the 1960s and 1970s, such as those offered by Lafayette Radio and Realistic (Radio Shack)? If yes, did you use them with or without a battery? If not using a battery, the mixers would have functioned passively, relying on...
